After dinner frenzy . . .

Just thought I'd share some of Beau's evening routine.

After dinner is cleaned up and Beau's been out to do his business, I generally settle in to work some more. This is the time Beau chooses to be frantic. He jumps onto the table -- so we can fight over whether the laptop will stay open or slam shut (he always votes for "shut.") When I get him off the table, he begs for a t-r-e-a-t. I almost always oblige. There always seems to be a stray napkin or tissue for him to shred ("leave it" only works sometimes).

And then he just has to hump. His usual target is his old sofa-like bed. He doesn't fit in it anymore and he has almost completely de-stuffed the bottom of it. And so, he humps frantically on and off for 10-20 minutes.

That's our routine -- and here is some photographic evidence. My kitchen floor shows evidence of most of the drama, complete with green stuffing, shredded napkin and humping dog.

You're lucky you get a set time for the crazies, mine are usually at the most inopportune times. DH bought Timmy a stuffed monkey at Cosco last summer and that's his main squeeze (no pun intended). I don't mind him doing his monkey business since it usually wipes him out. You certainly caught an action shot of Beau, lots of motion blur

We go walking 7.30 PM, spent outside one hour (lot of play, RLH), come home, wash paws... I go to fix his dinner and he naps for ten minutes. After waking up it is dinner time and after that - total frenzy! He is chasing balls, bringing me all toys to play fetch, jumping on me, RLH-ing, barking at TV... just to name some of his frantic activities that last around two hours.
He had that old sofa bed and did the same thing as Beau. He was even walking with that bed (upside down) around the house. The thing started to look disgusting (ripped on corners, stuffing coming out) so I put it in the rubish bin without any mercy!

So funny! When my 2 children were little (they were 14 months apart), the hour after dinner was the time they had their own version of RLH, after which came bedtime ritual and a good night's sleep. They would get very active and silly, with lots of laughing, shrieking and giggling! Good memories!

Lorraine, I am thinking you better bring that bed along when Beau comes to visit . I hate to think what he might find in my house to take it's place. Glad to have a heads up about his evening routine
