We are moving... Finally!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all are doing well, I have been trying to get some time a few days a few to browse the boards and check up on everyone 

Mossimo, Hubby and I are FINALLY MOVING!.. After spending 6 months with my grandparents we now have place to call our home.
I am so worried though that poor Mossimo is going to have issues being in another home now for the 3rd time in less than a year. Will he be ok?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to transition a puppy to moving to a new home? Specifically if we want to outdoor train him now, and Dave Im looking at you .. some barking deterrents in the new place?

Thanks everyone

So glad for you. It will be nice for you guys for sure. He should adapt ,probably faster than you two. If you're having barking issues ,pm me again as its' been since October since I last talked with you.

Congratulations!! Just be sure to spend a little extra one on one time with Mossimo a few times a day to help him feel secure and KNOW that though you have moved, YOU are always there with him!!
Excited for you guys!!

Will he be adjusting to being alone for part of the day or was he left even while you were with family? That would be the issue I worried about. He may be happier now because the two of you will be a little more settled. I am so sad whenever I read about how long the recovery is taking. I am glad you are able to be out on your own again. I am sure you are grateful to have family to help but it is never easy to combine two families. LB

@Linda... my FH works a rotating shift, so he is home for weird portions of the day and sometimes off for 3 days at a time but my grandpa lets him sit with him for most of the day when they are home which is at least 3 or 4 days a week. At first he was like Ay, this dog and now its his BFF!.. So yes Mossimo will need to adjust to being in his pen alone, while me or FH is at work.

So happy to hear that you are finally going to have a place of your own. It's been a long recovery. I didn't have the situation you have when we moved, however, we moved with two dogs who were 8 and 9 years old and who only knew one home before the move and they did amazingly well. I was pleasantly surprised. I did work from home, however, so they were not alone. One interesting point was that they went from a one story house to two stories and learned to run up and down the steps immediately. They did that several times a day as my office was on the second floor. These guys are very resilient. Hopefully, Mossimo will do well too, although it may take a bit longer due to all his moves and different people in his short life. Just pamper him with lots of love as someone else mentioned. Best of luck to all of you.

Congratulations, I'm so happy for you!

Mine did fine with the move, she seemed to be comfortable immediately. I was really worried about nothing. The only issue I had initially was some little surprise packages left at the back door in the middle of the night. I suspect it was confusion moving from a one floor apartment to a two floor house. The back door to the yard is in the basement and I think it took her a while to understand that it was part of the house and not her own private potty area

It sounds like he might miss having someone to hang out with when you are at work but he will adjust.

Glad to hear that everything is going well for you and you are going to be in your own place.

If Mossimo seems lonely after you move, do you have any doggie day care places nearby that you could go to, even if just one day a week. I take Murphy to one every Friday that only accepts small dogs. He loves the socialization and looks forward to seeing his friends.
