Dexter was terrible at getting car sick when he was younger. No problems now at 4 years old. Long trips we ended up putting him on meds, he slept mostly, when he walked, you could tell that he was drug induced.

Try sitting in the car lots, no engine, for awhile. Then the engine on ....slow process. Moving the car a little......keep sessions short and gradually lengthen. A very slow process, so he gets accustomed to the car. Try not to rush the process.

Your trainer is right. Just try SLOWLY increasing the lengths of the car trips, and make them a frequent as possible. Also, I found it was helpful to make sure that as much as possible, getting in the car was to go somewhere he really enjoyed, like puppy class or for a walk.

That's what worked for Brody. I wasn't super pet mom in implementing the frequent drives though since it was already in the plan that he'd come to work with me every day, so daily short drives (it's about 7 minutes) was already in the cards (plus errands). And where I live everything in town is within 10 minutes. Then I took him on a 16 hour road trip and that helped a lot too. He still gets sick if we have to travel very far on gravel roads, but just a little bit. I also got him a car booster seat and that has helped as well. He really likes being able to look out the window.
