Increased chewing?

Kubrick has what seems like very suddenly become quite the chewer. It used to take him 3-4 days of active chewing to finish a flossie and I just gave him one 45 minutes ago and it's GONE!

He's done with the teething stage so that can't be why he's chewing so much faster. Is this just normal behavior as they get older? It doesn't bother me or anything, I'm just wondering why in the world he's suddenly so much faster at chewing!

Actually, it could be because he's done teething that he can get through them faster. You know how when your mouth/teeth ache, you want some pressure on them, but you wouldn't start chewing a handful of hard nuts? Same with the dogs. It seems that as they mature and no longer have tender mouths, they can rip through some of the chewies much faster.

Flossies can drain the bank account too!

Kimberly, that makes total sense! And flossies really CAN break the bank account. At least I buy it in bulk (a box of 50) so I do save a little money.

Now that he goes through them so fast, how many do you think is too many to give him per week? I like giving them to him since he loves them so much AND it keeps him busy, which makes me love them!

Lina,
What type of Flossy is it? I got the spiral type made by Merick.. They go for $3 a pop here in Toronto... How much do you guys pay for them? Gets pricey, but they are Beamers favorite. (thankfully he is a slow chewer and 1 will last him a whole week)

Carolina, I have no idea. Sorry.

I buy the Jumbo sized by the case and use them for long car trips, sitting in hotels or just keeping them occupied if we go somewhere (except for shows). At home, I don't even give them one a week, so I'm probably no help there.

Ryan, I don't recall for sure because I've been buying them by the case, but I think the Jumbo size goes for $5-6 each. I found the smaller ones for $4.

Ryan I get the smaller ones at amazon.com. A box of 50 costs me $114 which is $2.28 a piece... that's the cheapest I've seen anywhere.

Our sigs do look really nutty back to back Kimberly, LOL.

Could he be gulping the chew. Freddie is a gulper and it worries me. He swallows huge pieces!

Linda, no he's actually chewing it, I watched him, he just chews it up faster than he used to. Silly boy.
