Our Vet BURNED DOWN!

OMgosh...I just heard that our Vet's office (Hospital) burned down?!?! Ack!!!! What if there were pets in there overnight?!

What if all Gucci's records are burned?

Do you think they would have that info backed up somewhere?? I hope no person or pet was hurt. Yikes!

Oh Kara, that's awful. I too hope no one was hurt and no animals were injured. Do they say how it happened?

Kara,
I'm sure they have computer backups.. stored?? who knows where? Would a vet office have remote storage backup? Possibly not??
Hope no one was hurt! How did you find out about this Kara? Local news??

No, my husband drove by and saw it and stopped and talked to the Fireman, that said a "battery pack" of some sort blew up?

Our Vet is a short walk from our office, but you cant' see it unless you drive in from a certain angle and my husband didnt' realize it until he came back from an errand to the office.

He said he didn't know if any animals were injured? I'm sure there will be a story on the news tonight.

So SAD! I worry because it is technically a "hospital" with 4 vets on staff and they do various surgeries there, some of which..I'm sure would require overnight stays?!?!

Okay, maybe it didn't "burn down" (husband's wording), but here's the news I found about it:

An animal hospital will be closed for a little while as they recover from a late-night fire.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a fire broke out at the Beach Pet Hospital on North Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach.
Firefighters rushed to the scene to douse the flames and save the pets.

"We're a pretty close family and this is pretty devastating for us all right now," Christina Sims said.
Firefighters rushed to the beach pet hospital when the alarm sounded.
They got here to find smoke coming from the back of the building.
One of the hospital owners tells NewsChannel 3 that a cat and a parakeet died.
He also said the cause of the fire was electrical.
EMT's on the scene gave oxygen to the animals.
"Oxygen does wonder for everybody, as you can see this guy is starting to move around a little bit, he's feeling a little bit better," said one EMT, as he administered oxygen to a turtle.
"The EMTs who administered oxygen to our animals who are here and the firefighters who were here to save those that were here, we're very appreciative to them," Sims said.

The hospital will be closed Monday and may stay closed for the week.

Oh God I hope the animals were okay and that nobody was hurt. That's horrible. Let us know what you find out. For now, prayers go out for all involved.

How horrible Kara! How sad for the pet owners of all the pets, but particularly the ones that died!

Kubrick was already afraid of the vet after his neuter (we stop by now once a week just to get some treats and loving so he will get over it), I can't imagine what he would have felt like if there was a fire while he was there! I would probably have to find a whole new vet.
