SNOOOOOOOWWWW!!

Marvin in snow! It is SO fun! Pouncing, sniffing, attacking, jumping, tunneling. But then, when we come inside, it is the attack of the snowclots, stuck all over his fur. And I mean really stuck. I tried brushing and combing them out, but I have to tug pretty hard. I could let them melt -but they will melt all over the house! Oh its going to be a loooong winter. Or maybe we'll have to go to that puppy cut afterall. You should have seen the look on his face when I opened the door and there was all this white stuff everywhere!

Anyone else from snow country have any advice for quickly removing the snow balls?

Carol, I'm not from snow country (for sure!), but if you keep a stack of dry dog towels on hand. It does help to wrap & cuddle them for a few minutes after they come inside. Or, if you have a utility basin you can use to wash off the snow balls when they come in, that helps too.

Now, I'm not trying to scold you or anything, but you should know better than to post a topic like this about Marvin and not share pictures. Naughty, naughty!

I'll post a picture of Maddie from last January when we went to New Mexico together and she got her first taste of snow on that trip.

Wittle bitty snowballs all over poor Maddie - and she was in heaven!

Oh yeah, we can relate to the tin snow balls stuck on their paws and belly! We don't get a lot of snow, but when we do they love to go hiking in it! I would love to see more havasnowmen!

HAHA Kimberly that is so funny and so familiar!!!! Eat your heart out, those of you from warmer climates. Wouldn't you like to spend your winter detaching those things! So cute, though.

I'll take pics, I promise - next snowstorm. Right now we're heading to Chicago for Thankgsgiving. No dogs allowed at my parent's condo - I've got to pack up Marvin and take him to some friend's house. SO SAD! I hosting Christmas here - so Marvin gets to stay with us.

Ok, first my disclaimer: I have absolutely NO experience w/dogs in the snow. So, this may be a totally stupid suggestion. Would it work to use a blowdryer on them?

A blowdryer works. I have sweatshirts I put on them. It covers their bellys up. They still get some snowballs on their legs, but it is much less if they are covered up.
