Question Business in the SNOW!

Ok, so Beamer seems to love the snow and jumping and running through it and have a great 'ol time.. BUT, having some issues here with him doing his business!

He is taking alot longer to pee and poop.. He has his head down sniffing like CRAZY, but I guess he cannot find a good area to pee/poop in cause of all the snow covering the grass.

Any suggestions? Or will this just get better as he gets used to the snow more? He had me outside in -10 degree weather running in circles for a good 15 minutes...lol

Ryan

Ryan, you're complaining about 15 minutes? Jasper kept my DH outside last winter for an hour trying to get a scent... every night. I will be following this thread-- we don't have snow yet. But hope Jasper is better this year.

Oh heck. I hadn't even thought about that. I was thinking this thread is about how do you keep your yard from having yellow pee all over it. My plan is to scoop clean snow over the pee when Gryff is done.

Missy,
Hahaha, well 15 mins seemed VERY LONG.. that was at 1am in the morning.. last call.. he always goes so quick normally.. pee and poop in under a minute..
After 15minutes of not pooping we went back inside to bed.
He did manage to finally pee after about 10mins..
But he pooped this morning pretty quick.. I guess he was backed up.. lol
I think I would go CRAZY if I was out therefor an hour.. lol

Ryan,
I have to make sure to keep an area shoved, so they can smell the grass. It's a pain in the butt!

That's what we do, Linda. We shovel an area where they can go. Bit, if they really have to go, the will just do it on the deck. Thank goodness for Trex.

My husband is always so concerned about the pups having a place to go, he takes the snowblower and before he does the driveway or walkway, he snowblows a large area on the lawn for them to go. It does seem that they like to go thru the whole area, sniffing and sniffing, then they walk into the snow to pee. Here we spend the time to shovel for them, and they prefer to go in the snow. I guess that when Beamer has to go, he will go!! You could always get another pup so there are more scents to find!!!! whadaya think??

Ryan,
My recommendation is to go to one of those Thanksgiving sales and get yourself a thicker coat, new gloves, a scarf, and a hat It was a little cold here... I did have to wear a sweatshirt when we had the convertible top down!!!

This problem had never even crossed my mind as a pet owner?

Well, I'd say to "create" some scents on the snow for Beamer? But what do I know? LOL I live at the beach, I'm lucky to see snow for 2 hours. Cold? Yes, we have that..but snow? nah..not too often.

If we get snow and Gucci goes Pee in it, I think I'd die of shock! Any dog that doesn't like wet grass and rain can't possibly like snow? right? hah
