Stray kittens

I was working out downstairs this morning and as i looked at my deck though the window, I saw 5 baby kittens and their mom comfortably resting under my deck. I don't have an issue with the feline family but my concern is for Django.

We never see cats roaming in our neighborhood so this is an unusual site. No collar on the mother cat. Do I need to be concerned with the issues these strays could bring and Djangos' health? Reaching to all my cat friends for answers as well. Thanks

Hmmm, I do have cats, but don't know of any communicable diseases they could transmit, rabies, fleas and possible intestinal parasites come to mind. How young do the kittens look? Can you tell if their eyes are open? If not, it may be a good time to call a no kill shelter in your area to see if they can trap the mom and get the hopefully immobile kitties captured and taken to a safer place. I would be concerned with the other wild critters coming to your yard to prey on the babies. I know it's kitten season but you might find someone willing to come and help you. I wish you were in my area so I could give you the name of the rescue I would call. Do you have any cat friendly friends that might foster this family until they can be adopted? Hopefully someone else will chime in and give you some more helpful advice.

Maybe you could put a call into your vet tomorrow. I'm sure they would know.

Mama will be really hungry. She's probably been moving to find food.
