Preparing for the Rainbow Bridge

We live on fourth floor and floor above us lives 15 yrs.old bichon frisee girl Tonka. Roki is so attached toi her and loves her a lot. But for long time she has been very sick girl - Cushing's disease, tyroid cancer, three surgeries... Last couple od weeks sheis in quite bad shape, but Roki goes upstairs and plays with her, gives her a lot of kisses. Week ago he went for a visti and found her in her bed. They joined noses and had some kind of strange conversation. After that Roki was so sad, did not want to eat, was mopping around... The same thing happened again. Yesterday we went upstairs! She was on the couch. They joined noses again for couple of minutes and then Roki nvited her to go to the terrace. They spent some time there just sitting and looking at each other. After that Roki is just sad, sad boy! Doesn't want to eat! I took him to the vet this morning and ther is nothing wrong with him!
I am wondering about the content of their conversation! I guess she was saying one of her final good byes to him, telling him that she is ready to go over rainbow bridge! I wonder if he can feel that his friend is praparing to go away? i just do not know what to do to make this easier for him?

I think that is such a sad story. Give Roki a hug for me. I wonder too what he is thinking.

Oh man.....my heart breaks for Roki! No doubt in my mind that he does know. I would tend to agree with Rita. It would seem they have had a very close and special relationship.

I agree... let them be together as much as possible. But although it's great to give Roki lots of love and attention, try VERY hard to do it in an up-beat, happy way, no matter HOW you feel about what is going on. (and I'm sure you feel bad!!!) Dogs are such masters of picking up OUR emotions, it's very important not to stress him more by you being sad and upset.

Kodi lost his best (old) dog friend in January, so I know it's hard. Kodi looked everywhere for Buddy after he passed. He still jumps up and starts to look around with excitement if he hears Buddy's name.

That's so sad. I do think they know what's going on. I agree with giving Roki some added support. Are there any other puppy friends he can visit so he knows it's not all bad?

So sad. This makes me blubber like a baby. I'm so bad at the whole death thing.
