Hello...I came across this website the other night & it seems like such a wonderful place to share stories, questions, concerns, etc.
We just added Amy to our family a week and a half ago. She's a four year old Havanese who is now a retired show dog. She is the sweetest little girl!! I had read a lot about the Havanese breed and knew that someday, we would have one. I didn't want to go through all the puppy training again, so when we found Amy, I knew she was the one for us!
I have two girls who are 9 & 4 years old. They love her, but she has bonded with me & isn't paying too much attention to them or my husband yet. She will let them pet her, but follows my EVERY step! (I'm not kidding!) She is an absolute joy to have around, so it doesn't bother me....I feel lucky that she loves me so much
I wondered if anyone else who has adopted an older dog has had this happen? I just hope she bonds with the kids in time...
We live in Upstate NY & would love to meet another Havanese owner so that Amy can have a friend. She had many other dogs with her at her previous home & I think she really misses the companionship. She also misses her puppies who were with her before her big move to our home.
I'm really looking forward to meeting some new friends here!
