For MHS owners

Just curious as to how many of you who own more than one Havanese see a big difference in the personalities of the dogs.

Bogart is very independant. He was never very affectionate. Not one to cover you in kisses. Even as a puppy when I went to visit him at the breeders home, all the other puppies where jumping all over me but not Bogart, he was off in the corner investigating the backyard. He loves being outside and running with the big dogs. He can chase a tennis ball longer than a lab or retriever. Bogart right now is sleeping by the front door.

Brando on the other hand is sooooooo affectionate. He loves nothing better than covering you face with kisses and rolling around on the couch with me. He goes nuts when I make monkey sounds to his face. lol
Brando at the moment is trying to rip apart my work bag...have to go put a stop to that....oh boy, just when I put a stop to that I noticed that Brando had peed on my floor about a foot away from his pee pad. Also he peed on my bathroom floor like an hour ago. He's been so good the last few days. Today has been like a total reversal. Mostly my fault though. I should have been watching him more closely.

What a difference it make having two. Before when I only had Bogie he would have so much energy when I came home I had to play with him most of the night. Now when I come home, he's usually pretty pooped lol

I have two, and they have distinctly different personalities. But, they are both Havanese-y in that they are super social, love other dogs and people, and are joyful and love belly rubs! Lincoln is more independent, Scout is more of a lapdog, jealous for the MOST attention. My breeder who has MANY dogs remarked on how they all have their distinct, unique personalities.

It makes me want to get many more Havs so I can observe the differences firsthand!

I have two - a male and a female. All I can a=say is that they each have a different personality. But, as different as they are, they are also very much alike. I don't know if that makes any sense to anyone but me, but that's how it is. Kodi is very calm and laid back, and Shelby is the rascal of the two. But they are both affectionate and willing to please.

I guess they are more alike than they are different.

I have two right now but would love another female some day. Katie is very independent where Titan is a real lover. Katie hate's to be held or even touched at times. Titan melt's in your arm's and will stay that way until you put him down. And he loves to give out kisses.

We have 3 adults and they are all different in personality. Pete is our wildman...rlh all the time..crazy and loving. Tinker is a tornado...never still and you never know where she is going to jump to...Bonnie prefers to be a havanese rug. After all she thinks she is the queen and queens would never run wild. We are also keeping 2 pups that we hope will turn out to be good show potentials. They are a month apart in age and very different in personality. None of the differences seem to apply to a certain sex.

I have three boys.

They each have their own personality.

But, they all three have the typical havanese trait of being loving, friendly to all, wanting to please, love to RLH. and above all they are SWEET, SWEET, SWEET.

I have Preston who is top hav in the hav pack, he is the laid back one. He's also a cuddler. He's my middle child at 1 1/2.

I have Nigel, my wild man, although I have been able to calm the beast from within pretty good. He's a cuddler also. He's my baby. He will be one on Jan,11th. He keeps me laughing.

Then I have Reece, he is Mr. Obedient. He doesn't want to sit in my lap, but lays at my feet on at the end of the couch with me. He is the licker of the three. He will give you kisses all day. He is my firstborn. He was 2 years old on Nov. 10th.

Peace, Love & Havanese

My two are Yin and Yang.

Jasper my oldest (2 in january) is my cautious little boy- he is very sweet, but very independent and not very needy. He is not food motivated. and has never been a cuddler but lately has become a more affectionate. he gives great kisses-- looks you deep in the eyes and then plants them right on your lips if you let him. He also has become a bit of a nurturer in the past months- taking care of us if we are feeling under the weather. And he is always cleaning Cash's eyes.

Cash just turned 1 in November and he is my clumsy- throw caution to the wind - leap before you look --funny guy-- he is very food motivated and will take your whole hand along with a treat (Jasper takes treats as though they are holy wafers) He is not a kisser (which is good because he is a poop eater) but he loves to cuddle and will slump into you all heavy and mushy like a sand bag. if you are stroking him he gets this look on his face of total ecstasy and if you stop he whips his head to look at you and flails his little paws in the air as if to say don't stop.

You know if since I got Brando, which is about 3 weeks ago, Bogart seems to have changed. He was never the affectionate type and is the same way now, although he does show more affection toward Brando...makes me a bit jealous actually. Before getting Brando, I would play with Bogart in the evenings, he always wanted to play. Maybe cause he was alone all day and slept. But now, he has no real desire to play with me.

When I come home, he actually appears a bit pooped and doesn't really care to play with me. He will play with Brando although he really doesn't have a choice in the matter. Brando will just start jumping all over Bogart until they start chasing each other through my home.

I use to put a white sock on my hand and it would drive Bogart crazy. He loved attacking the sock. Now, he just looks at it and sits there. I kinda miss the old Bogart.

On a side note. Yesterday I had Brando on my bathroom counter cleaning his bum, pooped was stuck to his fur, I turned around for a brief second and all of a sudden he took a flying leap off my counter. I nearly had a heart attack, as he was in mid flight all I could think of was "he's going to break a leg". He landed on his feet...err paws...looked at me then promptly walked away. Brando has absolutely no fear whatsoever...unless a bag is blowing across his path outside then he doesn't make a move. Make note to self. Never ever ever take my eyes off of him when on the bathroom counter. Bogart I could leave up there for an hour and he wouldn't even think of jumping off.
