Red face Our first doggy field trip....

Ok...you guys are going to get a good laugh out of this one. As you all know, our yard isn't fenced, so I've been trying to think of good ways for Amy to get her wiggles out. This morning I decided that we (my 4 year old, Amy & I) would take a trip to the dog park. Now...I had the camera all packed to get those beautiful pictures of Jess & Amy frolicking around and playing..can you picture it?!) Well.................we arrive to find that the "dog park" is actually a fenced in mud swamp. I get past this & come to terms with having to pay alot of money to have my car detailed afterward, but all the fun be will worth it.

We walk in to find a 110 pound (honest to god) dog who is just a sweetheart, Amy & I could care less, but this dog think my 4 yo is a chew toy. She grabs her stuffed dog, starts chewing it, Jess screams, Amy freaks out, we are ALL covered in mud! I grab Amy in one arm, Jess in the other stick them both in my brand new car wehichis now trashed & head for home. I leanred very quickly how to give a dog a bath & actually, I think it went pretty well considering my lack of knowledge. Once the bath was over, we got a first hand look at what you're all talking about...the runlikehell after a bath. It's priceless!!!!

Well, that was our day & actually we got a huge laugh out of it! Amy is certainly getting used to the usual "chaos" around here!

Oh my! I sat here reading with my jaw open wide. What an experience.

I'm really glad that you are laughing. That's the best way to handle it (along with a little "never again" in the back of your mind).

Jen, wow! That's definitely a trip to remember. I would have freaked out if I were you - it's good you are laughing about it! I only take Kubrick to small dog runs for that reason... the bigger dogs a lot of times don't understand that smaller dogs really ARE dogs and can get hurt.

I'm glad that at least you got to experience the after bath RLH, I'm sure that made you laugh a little more about your situation.

Jen,

That's some trip to the dog park!!! I am glad you were able to retain your sence of humor.

I never take my dogs to the fenced in dog runs. I find them too small for my male standard poodle. I guess he feels too confined in these runs and can and will get aggressive. I much prefer the parks that are not fenced in or the beach.

Jen- there is no mud in the tennis courts (I am telling you, they are great!) Yikes to that dog park! They should at least close it down when it is too gross!!! I wish the offleash dog beach was closer to me, I would go every weekend!

That's one of those it could have been a scene in a movie events. Glad you have a sense of humor. It certainly helps at a time like this. The bath thing is certainly an adventure in itself, so you've managed to get past a couple of firsts relatively unscathed.
