Sigh, Hobbes stepped in gum

Well, Hobbes had his weekly bath today. Later, we went outside to do his business and then I'm cuddling him and he has gum stuck to his pad, his nails, his fur. (We live in an apartment complex) Any tips for getting it off? It's really stuck down. I thought about trying peanut butter but I feel like that just might add to the mess. It's even embedded around his nail!

Thanks,
Mimi

Try olive oil. I think it will work on gum as it works on sap and other sticky messes. Peanut butter also works but is messy, although olive oil is somewhat too, of course. Good luck.

I tried olive oil. It helped but not all the way. Probably going to try PB but I was trying to avoid it.

Peanut butter is going to be a mess. Hobbes will like to eat it later.

No tips but I feel for you. Ppl are grubs aren't they. I thought it was bad enough when I step in gum with shoes on. Good luck.

Finally got it all off. Your friend was right, coke did the trick!

Hobbes got extra treats for being so good. It was really stuck, I'm sure it was painful getting it off.

Another tool for the arsenal, however, confirms my aversion to drinking the stuff!

Yup, it also takes rust of bumpers. Probably dating myself on that one, although maybe it's still used for that. lol

I've never used Coke to unstick something, does it simply make the item not sticky? or does it create some lubrication to get it out of the fur, or whatever surface?

glad it worked out for you. ain't this a great forum?
