bike ride and meeting ducks...

So, it seems that we frequently go for bike rides on Sunday afternoons! lol

Today we got a serious break from 100 degree temps and may even get some much needed rain tomorrow!! So, we took full advantage of the nice weather and went for a good bike ride!!
Tillie was in duck poop heaven down by the pond... lol

She is sooo pretty - love the eyes! You're lucky - I know if that would be Canela she would probably be too busy barking and scaring off the ducks.

Maddie and Zoey love duck poo. Not to eat but roll in it. Glad the weather is better.

ha ha, ya I am SO glad Tillie doesn't roll in anything... lol :P
She was curious about the ducks but never barked at them ... she LOVES bike rides and if I ride long enough she actually falls asleep back there! lol

Tammy, what is that basket you have Tillie in? Where did you get it and how'd you teach Tillie to stay in?

lol, actually Diann, it is a good ol sturdy 'milk crate'!! I had searched and searched and could not find something that was safe, big enough, etc ...
SO, we actually had an old bike rack in the garage that my husband secured and added some extra strength too and I sewed the cover with batting at the bottom and around the edges. There is a leash under the cover all wound around the milk crate with the latch poking out a hole I had left in the material for the leash and I use her 'old' harness that clips on the back so IF I ever have an accident or she were to fall out she hopefully wouldn't get hurt or strangled (If I were to use a collar)...

here are a few pics...

in the top pic of just the 'basket' you can see the pink leash peeking out ... and the harness on the bottom right of the pic on the table...
oh and as for staying in ... welllllll... she is harnessed in, so there is no option but to stay IN! lol I did used to have it looser, but she started standing with her paws up on the side of the crate and was 1 bump or turn from falling out, so I had to wind the leash a little bit tight so she can't stand on the side... she LOVES riding. freaks out in the car, but loves riding in the bike basket! and I actually like having her on the BACK of my bike, I was concerned about being able to see over her if she was in the front ... I do often ask my husband or my kids how she is doing though and just having to trust that she is back there and is OKAY because I can't really touch her or feel her or see her. hmmmm, maybe I should get a rear view mirror for my bike!!
