Introvert or Extrovert?

I saw this question posted on another forum and thought it would be interesting to see everyone's response to this question.

Is your dog and introvert or an extrovert? Inquiring minds want to know!

Major extrovert when it comes to humans. She is ferociously inclusive with her love for people.

But she's still an introvert around other dogs. Interested but hesitant and prefers to look but not touch. She's young and still getting a lot of exposure so I'm curious if that will change.

TOTAL extrovert with people/kids/everyone, so much so that I never let her off leash, she would go with ANYONE ... She hasn't had a ton of exposure to other dogs, but if they are SMALL and friendly and don't bark at her she wants to play with them.

I don't know how to answer this one either. Kodi is pretty balanced, but he's that way because he's been TRAINED to be that way. He's polite and appropriate with both people and other dogs. He enjoys their company, but is also good at keeping himself busy, or just "settling" in his crate.

He was definitely a people-oriented puppy. That's what drew me to him over the other puppy the Kings were considering for me. The other puppy was drive-ier (good for a performance dog) but didn't seem quite as people oriented or eager to please.

Benjamin is very much an extrovert. He loves everybody -- people of all ages, races, sizes, in wheelchairs, on walkers, he just runs up and says hi. Dogs, he never met a dog he didn't want to meet and greet. He has learned to be wary and hold back if a dog snarls at him, but this has only happened a couple of times. He also loves cats and birds, so yeah, he's an extrovert. He is happiest in a group of dogs, and it seems like he thinks he is the host because he runs around from group to group, as if to make sure everyone is having a good time. He is a hoot! The only thing he is not good at is being alone. He is learning to tolerate it for longer periods of time, but clearly he is happier with others, and I want him to be happy so arrange for that as much as I can.

The funny thing is, I thought I would be getting a small quiet lap dog. NOT. I am completely happy w/him as he is, though, and would not change a hair on his fuzzy little head. Thanks for the great topic!

Extrovert all the way! We call him the mayor of the dog park. He loves other dogs of all sizes. Loves all people. Also cats and birds.

Leo's an extrovert!

Leo has never met a stranger - person or canine. He loves everyone. However, I have also worked with him since the day that I brought him home to teach him to be ok by himself when necessary. Most of the time he tolerates aloneness reasonably well but his default mode is to engage with anyone who is available!
