Flea protection recommendations

Hey folks,

My little guy had a skin reaction to frontline plus, so now, I need help finding another flea/tick/sqeeter protection.

He generally is an itchy fellow, and this is new, that his skin had a reaction to the frontline plus, but it won't be going on his skin anymore.

thx in advance.

I use revolution. It's an all in one, heartworm and flea medication.

When Frontline became ineffective in my area, I switched to Advantix II. That being said, however, all dogs are different. Bailey used to get itchy in the spot where the Advantix was applied, but Tyler has never had a reaction to it. Frontline, on the other hand, didn't bother either of them. Guess it's just trial and error, although it can be a very costly trial with the price of these preventatives. Good luck.

I've been using Sentry Natural Defense when Kodi is outside in areas that he's likely to pick up fleas or ticks. It is made exclusively of herbal oils. It makes them smell like the spice cabinet, and you need to put it on a couple of times a day (more like a human using "Off" or what have you) but it seems to be working well so far!

My big girl, Kara, has sensitive skin too, but she doesn't get a rash from frontline plus.
The reason why I went with frontline to begin with is it's formula is supposed light years ahead of advantix, and it's supposed to last up to 3 months, which is great, less chemicals on the canines.

I use FrontLine Top Spot, been using for 4 years without problems. What extra stuff does the Frontline Plus have in it?

The problem with frontline is that the ticks need to bite in order for it to kill them. Kodi has a very bad reaction to tick bites themselves, without any disease being involved. So we needed to switch to Advantix, which has a repellent also. But I try to use it very sparingly... no more often than every 6 weeks.

On the recommendation of my holistic vet I'm ordering a natural spray called Quantum. Should arrive this week. Right now I'm using Ark Naturals spray some of the time and Flying Basset some of the time. Plus a weekly bath with Earthbath shampoo followed by an apple cinder vinegar rinse. Working so far but we'll see.

$21 for 8 oz. I think I paid less than $10 for the Ark Naturals at Whole Foods. Similar ingredients, so we'll see.
