dog from my past.

Those daughters of mine are now 38 and 43 years old..so you know how old this picture is. 'Lucy' was the result of a pregnant strays litter and we adopted he as a little pup. She lived to be 15 and she has been gone 16 years. She hated being groomed and I ended up cutting her short. She was a good dog, but not as good as Whimsy. She was about 25/30 pounds Not sure what kind of mix she was for sure but they told me cocker poodle mix. What do you think?? What breeds did you have in the past?

We had a cockapoo but she had curlier hair. Really sweet dog. Now they are designer dogs.

As student I had the sweetest black poodle girl Fanny. My mother was not happy having her around. One day I went to my lectures and when I returend home Fanny was gone together with her bowls, food, toys, grooming stuff, collars leashes... Even photos of her were gone. That was one of deepest shocks of my life. She didn't want to tell me where is she, who gave her new home... The only thing I squeezed out of my mother was that she is not euthanized, in shelter or just abandoned somewhere in the street. Four years latter I learned that she went to very good multiple dog home. I took me almost 30 years to close the wounds and decide to get Roki

That is just the saddest story!! It would be had for me to forgive my Mother if she were to give away my dog. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I have never really forgiven her that. I even moved out and lived with a friend, but total lack of money and some other circumstances forced me to go back home. Fanny was only 18 moths old

WOW, Marina that is just horrible!! I'm so sorry...

I grew up with a brittany spaniel/lab mix dog who along with my Russian Blue looking cat slept with me every single night. Smokey slept under the covers in my arms, Mutley (my brother named her and was NOT happy about having a dog. he is NOT an animal person.) slept down by my feet. in a twin bed. lol They lived a long time.
I got Smokey when I was in 4th grade, she died a week before I got married... I got Mutley when I was in 6th grade and she lived until 2003 ...

I wonder if she could have been part Tibetan Spaniel. I HAVE seen Cockapoos with less curly coats like this, and their faces do sometimes look sort of like a huge Havanese. But neither Cockers nor Poodles would have given her that curly tail!

Don't know what mix Lucy (my Mom's name) is, but her face sure looks like a Hav face in that first photo.

I had a cocker spaniel growing up who, believe it or not, way, way back then, got very sick from a tick infection of some sort and had to be put down. I also had a Persian cat. In married life, we've had an Afghan, a Bichon, two Havs, three African Pygmy goats and two barn cats. I'm now down to my one Hav, Tyler. Being a only child, I've always used pets as siblings.

Oh, Marina, what a heartbreaking story. I can't imagine a mother doing that to her child. I'm so glad you have Roki in your life now.
