getting ready to shake and pant

Here is Whimsy enjoying the calm before the storm a day or two ago. Pretty soon she will be terrorized from all the LOUD fireworks that my neighbors blow off every July 4th. She will be an absolute wreck and just want to sit on my lap..we usually go to bed early and she plasters herself next to me and shakes. Next year I might consider getting her a mild tranquilizer from my Vet. I feel so bad for her.

Beautiful picture, submit to the calendar. Put a Thunder Jacket on her. Dexter will probably wear one too tomorrow.

This is Sofie' s first fourth. Our neighbor shoots off fireworks every year. I am hoping she won't be traumatized. We had a GSD rtf hat just went berserk and we had to use a tranquilizer on her. She would try to escape the noise anyway she could, even trying to crawl into the fireplace. I always liked the fourth until I saw what it does to our pets...

I second the Thunder Shirt. It definitely helps!

Kodi climbs down to the bottom of the bed, between us, under the covers.

they don't make a thunder shirt big enough for my 140 lb. anatolian. she's terrified of loud bangs. and in my neighborhood, they start 3-4 days and end 3-4 days after.

I was really surprised tonight! Last year Kodi was very nervous about them, so I figured he would be the same this year. Tonight he was fine!

That is good news Karen. Our GSD never outgrew her fear of loud pops, gunfire, fireworks, and thunder! I was wondering at what age the fear of thunder and fireworks develop? Anyone have experienced to share? I can't remember when our GSD developed this fear. On a positive note, Sofie was fine until the finale last night and then she barked madly. She was already in her crate for bed when that happened or I imagine she would have been barking and running about.

Whimsy looks beautiful. Hopefully the loud noises won't be so loud. Can you run the a/c on loud to muffle the sounds?
