Thanks to this forum...

la Oprah's favorite things, these are Sheldon's faves, all of which I learned about from this forum:

- Skinneeeze dog toys
- freeze dried liver treats
- Himalayan dog chews

Sheldon says thanks!

I can't feed liver treats because Zoey get the runs. I haven't tried the chews are they like a bone or do they eat them? I have stopped buying edible chews because Maddie hids them and Zoey finds them when I'm not around to supervise. They say to throw the small end away because they can choke or get bowel problems. So we get baby carrots a couple time a day. They love them !

Hi Suzi -
The Himalayan chews are hard, like a bone. Others with more experience with them can chime in, but in at least Sheldon's case, he scrapes away very slowly at the "chew" (this is a misnomer, they're definitely not something chewy). He hasn't finished one yet, but I foresee it lasting for a very long time - much longer than, say, bully sticks. I would think they'd be good at cleaning teeth.

I haven't tried antlers with Sheldon, but my previous Hav (pictured on avatar) had no interest in them at all. Sheldon does not seem very food motivated, but he immediately started gnawing on the Himalayan thing.

Glad I discovered them!

YES, Himalayan chews are Tillie's chew now adays... when she first started getting them she would actually go through about 1 every 7-10 days, which is HUGE compared to the 1-2 HOURS. AND the Himalayan chews don't really stink... in fact, I think they smell like bacon!!
I buy the big dog ones on amazon and then break them in 1/2 ... she has been working on the 2nd half of one for almost a month now!! they are AWESOME!!!!
AND when they get too small, pop them in the micorwave and they puff up! I cut that chunk into quarters and she gets those chunks as treats throughout a couple of days.
It is cheese, so can be very fattening if your hav has a weight problem.

Tillie has 2 antlers. one from the store and one from a friend who hunts... she rarely chews them, only if she is desperate and doesn't have anything else to chew on! lol
