bag for pup

i am heading down to florida next month for 2 weeks and i usually take my dog everywhere. the problem is that although he's only 9 lbs, he's quite heavy in the bag. anyone out there carry their pups in a purse like bag that's easy on the shoulders? strollers are a no go.

Have you considered a backpack carrier? That might help with weight disbursement.

Also, there are some carriers that have extra long shoulder straps so you can sling the strap over your head and shoulder like a messenger bag. That would also help with weight disbursement.

Just a couple of options instead of the standard purse style.

I can't carry Dora like that cause I feel like she is too heavy but I barely carry a purse. I love the bags that let the dogs head out. I would recommend if you are getting one of those, to get the kind that have a buckle to his harness if he isn't used to it.

Sherpa makes a bag that is on wheels so you can pull it through the airport. You might get a stroller for the other end but remember that they make you check it like baggage. They do make a stroller with a detachable bag for the car or airplane and that might work so it goes under the seat of the plane and will still reattach to the stroller for easy movement on each end. My bag is really comfy: it has a thick shoulder strap, but it's pink camo. tee-hee.

I never taught Dora the bag was a good thing so she doesn't like them. I think she feels to unstable. Where as Isabelle loves bags. She associates them with going bye bye! So if you were to come to my house and put down your purse and open it, Belle would try getting in, not matter how little it is! The bigger problem is getting Belle out of the bag!

I second Wanda's suggestion of a backpack carrier. I have one that I love! It also has straps to make it a shoulder bag and a strap to make it into a messenger bag so you can carry it however you like. It also has seatbelt straps so you can strap it into the car. It's the Celltei Active Backpack-o-Pet. It's really easy on the shoulders... I have a sherpa as well that kills me every time I carry Kubrick in it (he's now 11.5lbs) and this one distributes the weight really well and doesn't hurt my shoulder or my back.

I have a camoflauge backpack carrier that I like! I've taken Gucci into grocery stores, etc. in it before. She likes it! I can't remember where I bought it, but I've seen it online.

The only thing is...its a little small! I'd say it may be too small for any Hav over 10 lbs.

My favorite carriers are the front packs or the ones where the feet hang down. Petedge has a nice camo backpack cheap!
