Smile Thoughts for 2008

THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM OUR DOG
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air &
the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps & stretch before rising.
Run, romp & play daily.
Eat with gusto & enthusiasm.
Be Loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent,
sit close by & nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on attention & let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On hot days, drink lots of water & lay under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around & wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded,
don't buy into the guilt thing & pout...
run right back & make friends.
Bond with your pack.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

That's great Sally!

I had to smile even with the first one. Tinky hates car rides, but if she sees me grab my purse and head for the garage, she begs to go with me. Yesterday she went to the bank with me and was miserable and in heaven at the same time. She loves the joy rides, but hates them too.

Love it! Especially the "don't buy into the guilt" part. As for the joy rides, not sure if they are for Milo any more, but they're not for me. He's taken to in the car every time we go out. Last time he did it on my favorite bugle beaded jeans jacket. Still haven't dealt with the aftermath. Ugh!

I love that, Sally. I used it in a memory book I made for my mom for her 75th birthday (insert shameless plug for MyPublisher.com, the web site I used to create it and it came out beautifully). Those are definitely words to live by.

Sally, thanks for posting that. We all could learn life lessons from our dogs! Years ago I once teased my husband that when he came home the dog got more attention from him than I did. He responded by saying if I greeted him at the door wagging my tail, giving lots of kisses and licks, and then rolled over on my back, he'd give me lots of attention too....LOL!!!
