Hey there,
just wanted to say welcome to the forum. I'm not a dog expert, but I'm gonna vote for resource guarding/protecting. Trying to ensure someone else doesn't eat it.

My little guy manifests his resource guarding in a different way. all my dogs get hooves to chew on. they are every where. Ollie, my little guy (I have three), he and my female are only allowed in my bedroom. Ollie will retrieve hooves that are unattended and deposit them in my room for safe keeping. I release the hooves every so often back into the rest of my house and yard, one time Ollie had 30 hooves (partially eaten), in my room.

good times.

We would love a picture or video of your havanese doing this.
Congratulations on the new family member.

We have another member of the forum who's Hav PILES toys on top of his food dish. My guess is also that it is a form of resource guarding... like burying a bone. He's keeping it safe for later.

Welcome to the forum... we have a rule here though, you must post PICTURES!!!

Thanks for the welcome. Our little Hav is such a joy! I think she is very happy living in our home as my husband and I give her tons of attention. I will try and post pictures soon. I just have to learn to move them from my phone to the computer first.

Welcome to the forum!!! We definitely need to see some pictures! I agree with the resource guarding theory even though mine eats his so quick there is nothing to guard!!!
