Need serious help with food

Help! Django was eating a great kibble by Acanaia which he loved but it was 40% protein. Too much for him and his issues. He can't eat beef, lamb or chicken. Not a fan of fish. I switched him to Natural Balance Venison and he's been eating it for 2 weeks as we transition to this new food however he has stopped eating the new food and only picks out the Acania kibble. we are at half and half of each.

Now this isn't a problem in one respect due to his weight gain, but it will be an issue if he doesn't eat his new food from here on out. Should I ride this out a few more days?

A friend of mine has a super picky eater Hav. she loved this food:

http://www.ziwipeak.com/air-dried-do...dried-cuisine/

and I fed it to my guys for a while, but I have big dogs too, and it's $$$$. fine for 1 or 2 small dogs, but I feed 4-5 cups a day, without my little guy, and I want them all to get the same food so they don't have food envy.

anyway my guys loved it. scarfed it down.

I feed Emmie ZiwiPeak and she's doing great on it. She gets 1/4 of a can of the moist food for breakfast and 3/4 scoop of the air dried food for dinner. It's a little pricey but since she's my only dog and doesn't eat that much it's fine. -Jeanne-

Ziwipeak is great but too much protein. Have to watch his kidneys. Because of all his health issues i don't have the luxury of trying different things. Sometimes one tiny piece of the wrong type of food can cause a tail spin downward

My friend has 15 year old bichon frisee with Cushing's (opposite of Addison). Poor girl got kidney chrystals, stones and bad infection. She was in such a bad shape we thougth that we are counting her last days with us. I went to pet pharmacy and bought Royal Canin vet diet for urinary problems (against struvite chrystals). She is on her four paws again. Jumping on the couch asking to go for a walk, eating happily, playing with Roki and other dogs... That all happened after vets told my friend that they do not recomend any medication because she is so old and frail that nothing will help. That food really helped!

Earthborn makes a bison kibble (grain free). Don't know if you're looking for grain free or regular but here's their U.S. site: http://www.earthbornholisticpetfood.com/us/

I'd love to feed Ziwi Peaks, but it is SO expensive!!! A 2 lb bag is almost $30.00!!! (haven't check the price of the canned) It's also not readily available. There is only ONE store, around here that carries it, and it's not that close.

I am just now switching Kodi from Natural Balance (because the company was sold) Nature's Variety Instinct. It remains to be seen whether I'll keep him just on the kibble, or add in the freeze dried and/or frozen raw. But it's kind of nice to have a system of nutrition that all works together.
