$53 Billion on pets

Saw this article the other day and thought to share..

http://blog.petstreetmall.com/uncate...ollar-question

Is this also means more and more people are caring so much for their pets?

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward Hoagland

Me too! I can't help myself...I go into a pet store for dog food and inevitably come out with a new toy or treat or something else Emmie "needs!" -Jeanne-

The number isn't exorbitant. It's only around $1300/year for each dog owning household in the US.

Ha! I've more than exceeded my allotment this year, much of it to meet Leo's current and future grooming needs. Grooming table and 2 arms (one for the hangman's noose as my DH calls it and one to hold the dryer) frees my hands to work on Leo, a Kool Pup dryer which works much better than MY hair dryer, CC #005 Buttercomb, cat carding comb which is great for face and feet, wooden Pin brush, new scissors (straight, curved which I love for feet, and thinning shears, nail scissors, a variety of shampoos/conditioners, ear powder and cleaner, finishing spray, 3 leashes with matching collars, 3 harnesses (one he has outgrown, one Sense-ible and one for the car, 1 crate, 3 Expens, a Sherpa bag, a carseat, food, vet care, flea and heartworm treatments, treats, training classes, fleece fabric for his bedding, and toys. I know I have as much $ in Leo's stuff as I do in him. Obviously, much of this stuff will last for a long time. I've never had a coated dog before so I got by with much less. I intend to try to do all his grooming myself as I am just not that comfortable handing him over to someone else. I'm still trying to decide about clippers so on it goes! But little Leo is so worth it!!!

I use to laugh at people like us, and now I'm one of them. My friends just smiled knowingly when I bought Gibbs his own couch.
