National Speciality FAQ?

It's Sunday and we are heading to Chicago on Tuesday. I'm excited but have many questions. Is there a FAQ someplace or can someone answer my questions?

1) Should I bring my big camera or just use my smart phone?
2) Will the dogs be with me most of the time or will they be need to be kept in their hotel room?
3) Can I keep my female dog in a stroller instead of putting panties on her.
4) Will there be a place there where I can buy panties. I'm not having any luck finding any locally and was afraid to buy online because of the sizing issue. Lucy is so loooong and tiny around.
5) Is there a "dress code" for the early morning potty run?
6) What about dress coode for the the show. If not showing in confirmation, is it okay to wear blue jeans/shorts?
7) I am very interested in improving my dog's coat and learning about grooming. What is the best way to approach someone to learn these things without them "guarding their grooming secrets?" My dogs are the love of my life, both fixed and I'm only interested in them looking the best they can look.
8) I know the dogs are not supposed to be left loose in the hotel room. Mine hhaven't been in a crate since they were babies. Would it be best to have one large crate they can be in together? Could I just bring a baby gate and their beds and keep them confined in the bathroom?
9) I have one dog that "alert/barks when he hears something. His bark is very loud. I am hoping he will go into sensory overload with all the different noises an that he won't bark at every noise he hears outside the hotel room. Is there anything I can do to help him stay quiet.
10) I know you're not supposed to groom them in the rooms. I imagine that is strictly bathing. Right?

Sorry for all the questions but will really appreaciate your response.

1. either one which ever you feel comfortable using.
2. Not sure what the rules are about dogs in the show.
3. They have to be in either panties or a belly band if their feet are touching the carpet. I keep mine in a stroller most of the time but do have panties & belly band just in case.
4. There should be someone making panties or have them for sale.
5. I take mine out really early so I have sweats & a t shirt to wear.
6. Jeans, shorts, are fine. Be sure to stop by HRI's table & get some really cute shirts or a sweat shirt if it's cool in the hotel.
7. This is hard to answer. I would wait till the show is over for the day to approach the owners, handlers to ask any questions. They are super busy before & during showing.
8. Crate or an expen works really well. I am taking an expen because I don't have a crate big enough to put mine in. Keeping them in the bathroom would work if they don't bark. I would probably put them in their stroller & take them with me.
9. Not a clue cause mine bark-I just tell them quiet and that does the trick.
10. No bathing in the rooms- there is a bath station set up outside. Grooming is done in the grooming room that the dogs showing will be.
Most important is go have fun meet lots of people and see so many beautiful Havanese.
Plan on catching both auctions, quilt raffle, HRI table & lots of vendors-'just bring extra money to spend.

Pat, thank you for such a quick response.

Another question. Do you have multiple dogs in one stroller or more than one stroller? I'm looking on Craigslist along the route we're driving to see if I can find a stroller that is big enough for even one, let along two. Lucy is tiny but she hardly fits in PetCo's Premium stroller. What kind of stroller do you have?

I have a strange set up-it's called a beach stroller-it's just an open area on wheels-I put a crate (small but big enough for two dogs) in this-then it has a netting that i put over the top of the crate-put a towel & blanket on that then the other dog goes on top-I rotate the girls so each one has time on top to see people & get belly rubs-Rom would much rather stay in the "man cave" so he does not go top side often. I will have it at the HRI booth so come by & take a look. I do have a regular pet stroller but can't begin to fit three dogs in it.
