Dianne, wish I could say I was closer - central NJ is just not that close!! Cause we have lots in the tri state area who come for playdates to my house. Maybe this spring you should plan a road trip up north????
Hi Dianne! Wish I lived closer too. But I run into the same "hava-what" here where I live in southern AZ. I think there may be 10 Havanese in my city of a mil people and now I'll have 2 of them. One day I took Bonnie to preschool to pick my DD up from the playground. The teacher (a dog lover) said, "Oh, what a cute dog! What kind is she?" I said, "A Havanese." "WHAT kind of dog is [I]that[I]?" she says. Now, was I just annoyed by her 'tude or the constant questions people ask or was I PMSing? I dunno. But I held Bonnie up and said, "It's THIS!"
I am in Indiana and wanted to say hello!!!! I alsways get that as well....a hava-what??? If I got a dollar for everytime I heard that I would have enough for my little boy~~~~soon I hope...like maybe this year??? Don't know about hubby still working on him!!!
I think everyone has probably gotten the "Hava-what" or they are trying to figure out what two dogs were used to create it. When we were on Cape Cod this summer, I was surprised at how many people actually knew what they were and were so happy to see them up close and personal.
Not from SC, either. But wanted to say Hi
We also get funny looks when people ask what Cooper is. Most think he's a shih tu. someone asked me at petsmart Sat. if he was a malti-poo
I get this combo questions also. During one visit a lady actualy asked if Lilly was a Havanese or a Bichon Frise I was FLOORED no one has ever even heard of a Havanese. She had a Frise so I guess she had done her research. But she did miss out on the BEST breed the Havanese. oops her bad.
