To pull or not to pull baby teeth

So Audrey got spayed when she was around 6 months old. At that time most of her baby teeth had fallen out and all of her adult teeth were in. The baby canines were the most stubborn to fall out on its own. While Audrey was under anesthesia to get spayed the vet had called me several times to see if I wanted to get her baby teeth pulled, but I didn't have my phone with me so the vet didn't end up pulling them.

Well Audrey turns 1 years old on Sunday and I just noticed that her bottom left canine had finally fallen out. She had that weird bottom left canine baby tooth next to her adult bottom left canine tooth for almost 6 months!

For those of you with puppies wondering what to do if they have a few baby teeth remaining and they haven't fallen out on it's own yet I can confidently say that they will fall out on it's own as it did for Audrey close to her 1st birthday! Hope this will let some of you know it's okay if all your baby's teeth haven't fallen out by the time they're supposed to get spayed / neutered =)

Sometimes they can crowd the adult teeth and cause a crooked bite. I would elect to pull them, my opinion.

Call and talk to Pam. She's at the National, but you can get her on her cell phone.

We just had our one-year shots visit yesterday. Vet noticed that two of Q's baby teeth didn't come out on their own. He had pulled a couple when he had his neuter, but figured these two would come out on their own so he left them. Well, one is wiggly, but is causing the plaque and food to get trapped between that one and the one next to it, so he's going in September to have those last two pulled. I'm hoping that the wiggly one will come out on its own before then, but I have a feeling it won't.

Maddie had two teeth come in double and we were in for a xray on her leg so the doctor pulled them during anesthesia.
