2013 Specialty Pics and Stories

I thought I'd start a new thread for those of us who attended Nationals. Just got back and had a fabulous time. I will not admit who I missed more DH or Timmy. Now mind you I had to share my time in Chicago with my daughters so I also had to do a school visit, sightseeing and show time, I'm tired. Chicago is such a neat city, and I LOVED my deep dish pizza I ate at Lou Malnati's. Here's my list of show highlights, in no particular order.
- Seeing a "Hav" only Obedience and Rally Trial. They are the coolest dogs ever. The Obedience judge said after judging this group of dogs he was going to get a Havanese.
- Seeing my man Kodi do a fabulous job in Rally, and Karen didn't do so bad either.
- Meeting Karen and Kodi. Yes they are as nice in person.
- Shopping the vendors and buying a really nice leather leash, I better not lose!
- Seeing so many Hav's, so many shapes, colors and sizes. I never got tired watching them all. My kids said I was like a stalker.
- Conformation was a really interesting experience, I never saw so many coiffed Hav's in one room.
- Seeing the HRI quilts in person, they are amazing! I put in my tickets to try and get one, yea right.
- Attending the HRI Banquet, that Laurie organized and did a great job. I had so much fun.
- Meeting HF members Gary and Diann (Lucy and Charlie Bear's parents).
- Seeing Rita again, even though Timmy and Riley weren't there.
- Winning a new wardrobe for Timmy at the HRI Auction.

Here's a few pics, I'll get some more when I have more time.

Karen as promised here's one shot of Timmy in one of the sweaters I got at the banquet. Not sure he's so keen on the hood. Yes there is a pig on his back.

Gary, Diann, Charlie Bear and Lucy with my daughters. I was taking this through a door so it kind of stinks.

Wish I could have gone! Sounds like it was a lot of fun and Timmy looks so cute, although his face is saying, I don't think this sweater matches...

Thanks for the update, Jenny. I'm so sorry that I didn't attend after going so far as booking a room. I'm kicking myself now. I knew it would be awesome to see a dog event with only Havs. How awesome!

Timmy looks adorable in his new sweater but not so sure that he thinks so. Great pictures. Glad you had a good time.

We'e had a great time too, and Kodi is currently curled up beside me on the hotel bed, EXHAUSTED from playing with his "room mate" dogs. The other dogs aren't "forum dogs", but buddies that Kodi knows from home. We have adjoining rooms, and the dogs have had a BLAST running back and forth and playing. Kodi just doesn't understand it, though, when the others are all clean and ready for their conformation classes, and aren't allowed to play with him and mess up their "party clothes".

Kodi did OK in agility, and awesome in Rally. He has been a fantastic traceler, going with the flow, meeting and greeting dogs and people in true Havanese out-going charm and happiness. Today, while I was photographing a friend's dog in the ring, I handed him off to Rita (Riley's mom) for the duration. They didn't know each other ahead of time at all. Soon they were fast friends, and he was sunggled in her lap. (Well, as much of him as would fit! )

Jen won TONS of loot in the HRI Raffle... Timmy is going to be the best dressed dog in NJ. She has promised to post a full fashion show here.

I get a great folding cart in the silent auction, that will help us trundle all our huge pile of luggage back to the car on Sunday! I also got a Polish Potter sugar and creamer, which I love. (I collect Polish Pottery)

There's so much to do and so many people to visit with, that it's hard to spend time with everyone you want to see. Pam King came from Tues. EARLY morning until mid-day today, and it was so much fun to see Kodi have another reunion with her. It continues to amaze me how much he remembers her! She also was ther to root us on in agility and rally.

I'm exhausted, and will be glad to get home, but at the same time, I'll be sorry for it to be over!

Well darn it.. I never saw you Jen! Glad you enjoyed the deep dish pizza. I was there for a couple of hours on Wed. and I'm going back this morning and taking John with me. He will love seeing all the beautiful Havs! I met Diann and her hubby and their 2 cuties pies Charlie and Lucy, Rita, Karen and Kodi, Pam King and Laurie with her cool fingernails! ( French manicure with little paw prints on the tips ) Today I need to stop the booth where they have Chris Christensen products and buy a brush and maybe try a new shampoo. Need to keep looking at name tags for a few more forum members. Here are a few pictures...I didn't get one of Diann ..maybe I will run into her today and get one. Karen and Kodi..Laura, and the last one is Rita. Was terrific meeting you! (Love Timmy's new sweater!)

John and I went and watched some National specialty..Puppy Bitches and Veteran Bitches this morning. Also bought some raffle tickets for the quilts and met Pat in the process. Gosh..all the dogs are so gorgeous. It was so much fun to see all the different sizes and colors in one place! I was bummed tho because the booth with the Chris Christensen shampoo products and brushes weren't set up today. Should have bought it on Wed. when I was there.
