Bay Area Hurricane?!

We are having a ferocious storm here in the Bay Area. They are saying hurricane-force winds. We live on the Bay and I truly thought our windows would blow in on us as we slept this AM. Our power has been on and off a lot.

Biscuit howled a bit from all the noise outside, but here's the good part. Of course, things were at their worst when I got up to take him out in the yard for his AM potty. Terrific wind and rain coming down. I put his raincoat on, got an umbrella, but fat lot of good, because everything is blowing sideways. But Biski is such a good guy who lives to please us, and he did all his business in two seconds flat while I held an umbrella over him. He was like, let's get this over with and get back inside!! I think this post makes me a certifiable dog nut. . . only this group would understand.

I hope everyone else in the Bay Area is doing alright. This is a frightening storm.

HAV A GREAT DAY ! ~~AMY & BISCUIT~~

Wow, it's windy, but not that bad down here and we're only 20-30 minutes from you. No wonder you've lost some of your trees and table.

I was talking to Kathy a little while ago and she says it is still beautiful down south (at least for now), but that they've had some damage up at her house (Sacto area), so that is a bummer.

Hope you weather the storms well and that you have no further damage. I think given your circumstances I would have opted for Milo to go the wee wee pad route, which he sometimes chooses anyway.

Yikes, Amy! I know all about those Hurricane force winds, we get that atleast once a year being so close to the Outer Banks (attracts the Hurricanes!) I'm glad Biscuit is holding up alright and not scared, and LOL @ braving the winds. I'm suprised your umbrella survived! Personally, I would've put a pee pad out, but I'm a total wimp! heh.

You should take advantage of the storm to curl up and read a book and make you some coffee or hot chocolate, assuming you have power!

XOXO,
Kara

You know, Geri, he's forgotten how to use the wee wee pads altogether. I wish that weren't the case. Check the other thread for big update!

Wow, Kimberly, cannot believe you don't have more wind. Check the other thread.

Amy- Maddie doesn't do wee wee pads anymore either. The last time she used one was the day we brought her home. So like you, I brave the weather to take her out. She's really good, like Biscuit, and does her business quickly. However, the very first time she was out in the rain, she didn't have a clue what was happening and just seem to freeze in place. I can't put a raincoat on her either, as she won't move an inch with it on. So we both get soaking wet and hurry back into the house to dry off. Joy, joy, joy.......

They said that we've had winds clocked around 90mph, but I guess I'm just ignorant to all of it in the house here. I'm glad our roof is fairly new and all of our landscape/hardscape is draining everything away. (We're the highest lot in the neighborhood). There were some noisy gusts earlier this morning, but nothing like what I'm seeing on the news. I must be in a calmer patch.

We just had a new roof put on this summer so I feel pretty safe on that point! Larry was making some "paths" in the yard leading away from the downspouts just to allow better drainage this morning.

90 MPH?? OH MY!

90 mph wind gusts!! That does it. I'm going home early. I can't sit here and wonder if my animals are terrified by all this. I read my local news online and there are downed trees. sporadic power outages and other damage reports so although I'm sure my house itself is fine, I'm not so sure about the safety of the back yard for the girls (young trees that might be down and cheap Home Depot fences that might be down, knocking over the temporary fencing.) Hopefully all is well and the girls are snoozing through it all but I need to be there with them.
