low energy

i live in cleveland, it's been very cold, too cold to take the dog out. i have noticed a decrease in his energy and sometimes appetite. don't know if it's due to the cold and he has no desire to do anything, his schedule is out of wack as well, doesn't poop on scheudle, again, maybe because it's just too cold for him. it's funny, his schedule changes every winter. he's only 4 but it's wierd how last winter he was very different compared to this year which makes it harder to figure out what's going on. i try running him in the house so that he can get a little exercise, agian, sometimes it works, sometimes he just walks back to his pillow saying leave me alone!

He probably has cabin fever. He's bored because his routine is not the same. I notice that with my dogs, too. If the weather is bad for a few days and they aren't getting their usual exercise, then they just mope.

Maybe he needs a playmate, do you have a friend with a dog that can come over and play? He sounds bored...sometimes I think they sleep when there is nothing better to do.

Def. plan the playdate, my guys dont have that problem as there are three of them, so there is always someone to play with. You should do a new frozen kong treat which will give him time to "work" on it. Do you guys play fetch? My guys also seem to get a lot of exercise with the hide a bee & hide a gingerbread house. I stuff other toys in there too!! It has been real cold here too so my guys have not gotten out much, but today they were out 50% of the day, running & playing, so I hope they sleep well.
I bet he will perk up once he gets some exercise.

He needs his own built in play date, then you'll never have to worry about him getting the winter doldrums again.

New toys always help Molly when she needs a boost!

They're fun for me, too!

Beamer is always low energy on these very darka nd cold winter days. Especially when its very cloudy out and no sun gets through, he just chills out all day..lol.. Sun sets at like 5pm.. How much fun is that?? In the summer he loved to run and play outside in the summer sun till 9pm atleast.. I CANNOT wait for the summer.. or ATLEAST Spring.. heh
