[email protected] Rabbit (or Deer) TURDS

My buddy doesn't eat his own poop, but he can sniff out "Jelly Bean" turds like there's no tomorrow.

I know how to redirect his attention once I realize what he's doing, but usually I don't realize what he's doing until he's already eaten a few.

Too Gross

John

Yup, a good friend of mine, her hubby and son are dying for a dog, so I used to bring them over. but I can't anymore, b/c they have two rabbits and a hutch in the backyard, and they run the yard, and there is bunny poop every where, and all three of my dogs LOVE bunny poop. game over.

Dogs usually see and smell them as good treat but the best thing to do is keep your dog away and stop access on the poops.

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward Hoagland

Ruth, whenever my dog used to eat rabbit turds he would always get diarrhea, always...but then again he had a sensitive stomach. Maybe Charlie will be okay and it will not bother him.

Yuck! Lucy doesn't really have access to other animals' poop, but she eats her own if she can. Sometimes she is so sneaky going to her pee pad I don't even realize she's gone to the bathroom. It makes me gag when I catch her in the act. What's with dogs eating poop?!

It's in their survival instincts. Poop has residual nutrients that can sustain wild dogs when other food is scarce. Similarly, domestic dogs will eat poop if they aren't getting enough nutrients from their regular food.

What are you feeding Lucy? The higher the quality of the food, the more nutrients she will absorb naturally and less will pass through her stool. The less residual nutrients in the stool, the less likely she is to eat it.

Also, there is an enzyme additive you can add to your dogs food with will help her absorb more of the nutrients.

John
