eliminating the potty drops

Um, how do I ask this delicately....

Sheldon is 4 months old, not yet going to grooming. After a potty, he has drops clinging to those long hairs extending from his "man part".

Do people ever cut the hair to eliminate these drops? I can imagine the male forum members, in particular, cringing at the thought of me holding a squirming puppy in one hand and a scissors in the other.

Hi Deb.
The breeder told me it's good to keep some because it directs the pee in a straight line rather than droplets going everywhere.
Charlie had his first groom at about 4 months and they cut the long hairs right off. Since then I've kept it trimmed myself. I do find that more of his underbelly hair gets a bit sticky and I think this is because of his wider pee circle. S I'm going to let it grow a bit and see if it makes any difference.

Just finishing my breakfast - love this dog potty talk!

Interesting! Thanks for sharing your experiences, Ruth. Will give it more thought before chasing Sheldon with a scissors.

Yes, it is good to keep it longer rather than short,..in grooming language I believe they call it a wick. As Ruth stated the direction then gets spread out instead of in an even stream.
