Licking

Does anybody have this problem? Gryff likes to lick at night. He will lick his arm, the comforter, me, the sheets...you get the drift. It sounds so gross. I usually have to kick and prod him and eventually he'll stop. I don't want to spray bitter apple all over my bed. Any ideas?

Maybe he is bored and need a distraction. Can you give him a bone to chew on instead, or a toy?

I know mine have their bedtime ritual - they each have to take a turn laying on my chest and give me licks. Then they have to get belly rubs. Once that is done, they get up and go to their bedtime spot and go to sleep.

That's the last thing I want is for him to chew on a bone on my bed. Licking it is bad enough! I think it's just a soothing thing for him to do before he goes to sleep.

We had a sweet, old "mutt" who used to do that. We were never able to break him from it, nor could we figure out why he did it. He did eventually get to where he'd stop it as soon as we told him to. I know how gross it sounds when you're settling in to go to sleep. I hope he gets over it soon.

He needs Cooper's shirt..

"I can't control my Licker"

My guy does this, too. Not the sheets, and himself too much..but us. It's quite annoying.

Ditto sorta LOL! Rufus licks hubby's head all over! I think Larry likes it too HA! I just think it's funny. I don't know about the sheet licking thing though. Maybe change your laundry soap? or dryer sheets?

Maybe change your laundry soap? or dryer sheets? I can't tell whether it's a comfort thing or if it's a taste thing! Gryff is sure a cutey though.

Ivy..

I put a top sheet on my bed for the dogs and they at times will lick that or their comforter. I usually have to tell them to stop also..

I wonder if they do this to get hair off their tongues, as they do lick their feet.

You know....Amy doesn't sleep on our bed, she's on the loveseat next to the bed & she licks herself & the couch at night. It makes me nuts because, for some reason, the sound always wakes me up! I love her, but the sound of her licking makes me crazy!! I slept w/a pillow over my head last night to drown out the sound. DH says he never hears it, probably because he's used to hearing himself snore...LOL! She's like clockwork too, same time every night!

Tessa just gives us a good face wash quite frequently. She's quite the demonstrative love-bug. And I confess we love it. Other people...probably not so much

I have heard many dogs will lick their paws if they have allergies? Maybe that's something you can investigate? Otherwise you can always use earplugs
