Squirt is thriving
I'm glad to say that Squirt is thriving in our home. Many of you will remember that we brought her home three months ago. She was almost exactly one year old and weighed 4.5 pounds. The vet said she was healthy, just small. Her only problem is collapsing trachea, apparently common in small dogs.
I took her to the vet for her shots today and she now weighs 6.4 pounds. Wow, she has gained 2 pounds in three months time, and she is no longer a growing puppy.
She's always been a picky eater. The vet said that her weight is good for her size, not to worry if she skips meals, and she's not overweight. She will eat as much as she needs.
She devours raw food, but I worry about the high protein so I give her kibble. She would sometimes go three meals without eating and I worried and worried. Most recently I've been feeding her Solid Gold Wee Bits (1/2 cup per day) with about a tablespoon of wet Pedigree mixed in. She almost always eats some of it but hardly ever eats all of it.
Anyway, I wanted to share that she gained 2 pounds and its okay if she's a picky eater.
