Bowl Tipping

For the past week or so, Tori has been pawing at the edge of her bowl until it tips over and her food (kibble, thank goodness) spills out. She then eats the food from the floor. I'm wondering if this is unique to her, or if it's another one of those "Havanese things". Anybody else's Hav do this?

Leslie,

For some odd reason Sophie will lick her dry food until most of it spills out of the dish.
Then she will eat whats in the dish, then eats what she spilled out.

Also..at times she will take just one piece out and run into the living room with it where she drops it on the floor, rolls all over it and then eats it. This she will repeat several times.

So whats with THAT?

Leslie,

Gucci would do this too, sometimes. I have NO clue why, but around that time...I quit using bowl and started using the flat, small plates..and that seemed to fix the problem, Occasionally...she'll take food, or kibble and walk about 2-3 ft away from her dish and eat it?!? lol, Okie dokie. The plate has worked out for us though, she doesn't really eat enough in one sitting to justify a bowl anyways.

Leslie,

Riley did this as a puppy then he started just grabbing a mouth full and putting it on the floor before eating it. And if I was in the living room he had to drag his food out by the mouthful into the living room drop it on the floor, eat it then run to the kitchen for another mouth full. This all stopped the day Monte came home, Monte is a pig and Riley learned real quick he could not leave his bowl. Now Riley just flings the bowl at me when it is empty and he is hungry.

Wow, Izzy does that to! She takes a piece, puts in down, treats it like a wild game hunt....pounces, barks, attacks, etc! Then she picks it up and takes it to another spot and repeats the process! It's hilarious. She doesn't do it often, but when she does, it's a hoot. Most of the time, she takes a piece to another spot, eats it, comes back for another piece, etc. And, she wants her food on the floor...she won't eat out of the bowl. I suppose she would if she got hungry enough, but I just put the food on the floor as she has trained me well! Oh, and Doc wants his on the floor too!

Missy does this also sometimes and it is fun to watch... I feed them their wet food on paper plates so they don't have a bowl to spill, kibbles is a bowl for snack and they take one and run off with it, then eat it....don't spill the bowl then either.

Missy is pretty funny almost everything I feed her...I going to do a video..... I should do it before she gets older. The girl LOVES food...I don't know why, but she will do a dance almost every time she gets feed that is just so cute, I almost always have to smile of laugh.

Well, maybe they realize that they will never enjoy the experience of cow tipping so they are going for the next best thing....bowl tipping...

My guys will only flip the bowl after they eat and they are still looking for more food. They've done that once or twice but they definitely eat from the bowl.

Thanks guys! Sounds like she's not alone in her "unique" style of eating.

I have noticed mornings, when she's hungriest, she just "gets down to business" and eats from the bowl. When she does tip the food out, she will only eat a bite or two before heading off to do something else. I think she's created a game for herself.
