Temporary Parents Needed for Racquet

I arranged for a couple to watch Racquet while we are away from Feb. 24-March 25th I thought they would be the perfect couple because they raised and showed dogs. We communicated via phone and emails for months ( they live out of State) However, when we met, the husband commented about swatting his dog with a newspaper and I freaked.
I posted on housecarers and received 25 responses but I am now very nervous about leaving my precious Racquet .
Racquet adores other dogs and is well behaved.
Is there anyone on this forum that would enjoy having another Havanese for a month.? I live near the beach, enclosed backyard, 4 bedrooms, three baths, You could stay at my house or I could bring Racquet anywhere in So, Calif.
He is our baby and I would feel so secure knowing that another Hav "Mom"
was there.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Elayne, you don't have your location listed under your name (or in your profile). Can you tell us where you are?

Elayne, I wish I lived in CA. Riley & Monte would love a playmate for a month. Good luck, I hope you find someone whom will treet Racquet like their own.

Elayne, sorry I am way too far for you. When I read your post, hubbys ears went up, he is a BEACH nut, and he says, they live on the beach and are going on vacation?? He says that is where we would GO on vacation - haha
I am sure that you will find someone on the forum, there are so many CA people on here.
I am glad that you decided not to put him in that situation. I dont think you would have had a moments rest on vacation thinking about your baby all the time.

Elayne, I am sorry I live to far to help you out. We do have some people on the forum from S Cal maybe they can help you out. Did you call your vet? Maybe they could recommend someone. Or is there someone you work with who has no obligations and would love to come and stay at your house and watch him?

Gosh,

I would certainly help out, but I'm a bit far! I know we have alot of members in California, maybe go post on the Southern California thread so more people in Southern Cal can see it? I know some don't come to the forum every day.

or the one thread you started awhile back:

Maybe some others will see it! I would love to come to California for a month, but work and family definately couldn't afford me gone that long! LOL I doubt they would survive a weekend, much less a month.

Good luck!

Is there the possibility that you are overreacting? When he made the comment did he say it with a sense of humour? He may not have actually meant it. We all say things that we don't necessarily take action on.

Temp. Parents for Racquet

I live in Carlsbad, about 1 1/2 miles from the beach, sunny house, you can see the ocean from the upstairs master suite. I live in a great neighborhood of 27 homes, close to stores, movies, freeways, shopping and a quaint village.

The gentlemen commented that swatting his dog on the behind broke his habit of going on the floor. When I leave I am not sure Racquet would not have an accident, he is 11 months old now and housebroken but......
So you can see my concern.

I would be happy to ake your dog at any time.
