A NEW TREAT!!!! that's really good for them

I just picked up some dehydrated green beef tripe made by solid gold. it is not at all disgusting like the canned or raw. and in fact it is really hard so it provides a really good chew for the teeth (something important to me since Kibble is an afterthought to the boys)

Tripe is supposed to be really good for dogs so I was really happy to find it in a not too gross form.

Missy,

So does that stuff not stink once it gets mushy or they are chewing on it? How does it make the breath?? I was thinking of buying that exact stuff but was scared by the stench... I have fed Beamer raw green tripe before and it was the worst thing i have EVER smelled in my life, and it got all over his beard!! stunk for days..lol

So do you reccomend it?

Ryan

My girls love it and I don't notice any smelly breath. They make terrific treats.

Hmmm, if it does not stink, it must be processed and alot of other junk added to it,big time! I wonder if these treats provide the goodness that the raw stuff is saposed to provide? hmmmmmmmmmmmm

No, Ryan, there isn't a lot of junk added to it. The only ingredient is dehydrated green beef tripe. The dydration gives it the crunchy texture. I suppose if you soaked it in water you'd get the stench but it's in small, crunchy bites so they can eat it quickly. It's not something they chew on for any length of time.

Cool! Thanks, Missy.

I picked up the Wellness Venison treats the other day and Gucci is going NUTSO for those! Of course, she loves venison. lol They are supposedly all made in the US. They went quickly.

I'll have to check that out, I don't think I've ever bought tripe. lol

Ryan, I agree with Susan, no smell. No gross-ness what so ever. I tried the canned once and had to throw it out and triple bag it it was so gross... This has no smell and I have not noticed it on their breath. I am sure it doesn't have the same value as it does raw-- but there is no way my boys are getting raw tripe.

and again, I especially like the crunch effect for their teeth.

Merrick used to make a beef tripe treat called "Golden Crispers" that looked like the one Missy posted. It just says it is "beef tripe"....not "green beef tripe"....I wonder what the green part means. I just searched their website and it looks like they don't carry it anymore.
