SNEEZY

Biscuit does the funniest thing when he is happy, excited, greeting us, wants to play with us or the cat: he tosses his head and sneezes. Repeatedly. I can't tell if it is an actual sneeze, or a pretend one. He snorts a bit, too. But the sneeze and head-tossing part is hilarious. Do other Havs do this? Or only mine???

Another horrendously rainy day in Nor-Cal. Bored of it !

My hav doesn't do this, but my Yorkie used to! Whenever we came home especially, he would have a sneeze fit...he would also sneeze if you sneezed first and would continue to do it as long as we did it. We could keep him sneezing for 10 minutes if we wanted to. (shows what sick and easily entertained goobers we are!) I don't think it was really a real sneeze...just something that sort of morphed into a game.

Amy,

None of my dogs do it, but I had an English Setter (who passed) he used to do it all the time. It was the cutest/funniest thing to watch. He would also have the broadest smile to go with the sneeze.

Thanks Shelly and Julia, that is so interesting. I never knew dogs did that. It kind of reminds me of a horse when it is playful.

Sorry to hear your weather is still bad. We're getting it tomorrow. And of all days we have tickets to see Mama Mia and are going into the city.

Kodi and Shelby do that sneezing thing every morning when they get up and also when we are playing.

You know....I often wondered if it was the smile that caused the sneezing. My yorkie was a big smiler. We would tell him to smile and he would actually grin...he would also smile back if you smiled at him...just like a person does! I always wondered if something about the lifting of the lips made him sneeze because he sneezed at the times he was also smiling if that makes sense. Does Biscuit smile, Amy?

Yes! Rufus sneezes and snorts ha! Our teacher in puppy class said the sneeze is an invitation to play. I've tried getting in the play posture with R. and making the sneeze noise and he's goes nutso!

UGH! this rain is awful! Did you get any snow this week? We got snow a couple days ago for about 4 hours! :O

So interesting, guys, thanks 4 your responses. This may be one of the more trivial questions ever posed on the Forum, but I am so bored and sick of the rain. No snow here in Marin, Christy, even though it was cold enough last wk to snow on Mt. Tam. But it didn't.

No, Shelly, he doesn't smile. But he will open his mouth really wide and show the whites of his eyes when happy. He looks like he is all mouth, it's hilarious. What a character.

Oh, Christy, I will have to practice sneezing with Biscuit and see what he does ! How funny !

Yep, Michele, NYC will get smacked tomorrow, too, I hear. But I'm not sure it's the same storm, though, all the way from Cali. Don't think it moves that fast. OH, I hate going into Manhattan in bad weather to the theatre, I've done that before. I hope you enjoy the musical anyway!

Kubrick doesn't sneeze but he snorts a lot! It's very cute to watch and we imitate him and he does it even more. It cracks us up.

He also does this ke-ke-ke sound sometimes when he breathes and it is the cutest thing. I noticed some other Havs doing it at the New Jersey play date so I know he isn't the only one. It's sort of his nickname around here. I say ke-ke-ke and he always looks up.

My guys sneeze and snort all the time, when playing. I will have to try it myself - although I am sure my DH will think I am nuts getting down on my knees and sneezing at the dogs
