What car/booster seat do you recommend?

I am looking into purchasing a booster seat or car seat and was wondering which ones people like. What size did you find to be best for a grown Hav? Also, do you have to purchase a harness separately?

I have looked at the Solvit Jumbo Tagalong, but I'm not impressed with the lack of padding and thin plastic construction.

I have also looked at the Snoozer Lookout, but its really pricy.

I have the snoozer lookout. Mine is not full grown yet but she loves it because she can see what's going on outside. It comes with an attachment for a harness but you need your own harness.

What size of Lookout did you get? And is a dog seat really necessary? I mean, I've never gotten one for my dogs before, but then again, I've always had HUGE dogs.

I have the Solvit one and really like it. You do need a harness even if you are using the attachment in the booster. I thought the connection on that was a bit flimsy so I got one that attaches to the seatbelt and use that one instead.

I have the small one I think. Lucy is tiny so it works for her...she is only 5 lbs right now.

At first I didn't think it was necessary, but I wanted to keep her safe and comfortable in the car. I like it because I know she is safe...and she likes it because she likes to look out the window and wouldn't be able to do so otherwise. It's very soft and light, so it is easy to move when necessary.

I have the Small Snoozer Lookout. Both Canela (1yr 6 mo, 10 lbs) and Vino (6mo, 11 lbs) fit comfortably in it.

I also have the Medium Snoozer Lookout, just in case I have to travel with both of them at the same.

If I had to buy another one I would go with Animal Matters or LA Car Seat ( http://www.inthecompanyofdogs.com/Sh...aspx?ID=17,473 ) for two reasons. 1. These seem more secure since it has the seat belt groove on the front of it. I have a small car (VW GTI), I use the small snoozer in the front seat and it fits but not perfectly. The bottom of both the AM/LA car seat look like they are made for car seats. The snoozer is more blocky....i guess if i had a bigger car it would fit fine. I do use the Med Snoozer in my husband's truck, good fit there. Reason 2: The wool in the Snoozer make my guys hot, the AM & LA car seat use microfiber fabric wouldn't make them hot....IMO.

Here are couple more options for you

–not too pricey:

Forgot to answer your other questions. Your puppy will want to sit on your lap or be near you while your driving. So, Yes – it is necessary to have a car seat or at a minimum you should strap them to a seatbelt for both your safety and the puppy’s safety.

I used the attachment that came with Snoozer lookout and clip it on to their harness. You will have to get a harness too.

I use a Vest Harness for Leo that has a slot on the back to put the seat belt through. I have a small travel bed that I put on the seat because the leather in the car gets too hot without it. Leo will just lay down during a car ride.
