Brooklyn broke her arm!!

OMG...this has been the craziest day ever!!
First off, I am in charge of the Daddy/Daughter Dance at my kids school. So we were at the school this after noon decorating, because the dance was tonite...
Whie I was decorating, Brooklyn (my daughter) was playing outside with my nephew (who is 13). All of a sudden, Brooklyn comes in crying..holding her arm funky.
Long story short, she tripped over a dog that some teenagers had on the playground (NOT on a leash mind you) and she fell and caught herself with her arm. It looked funny and was turning green/bruised almost immediately. We made a cast out of a capri sun box (of course I took pics, I will post them tomorrow). Hubby was on his way with dinner, so we all ate and then off they went.
Hubby took her to the ER (and they missed all but 15 min of the dance) they took x-rays and her arm is broken!! She is in a splint now, and will go monday for her cast. I had to stay back and host the dance (which was wonderful!)
You know this is just wonderful timing...we are headed to Hawaii in 3 weeks! Yikes!!
I am absolutely exhausted. Both physically and mentally.
I am off to drink a margarita now....phew~

Ugh! We went through that with my daughter, but she was a little younger than Brooklyn and it was right before a big family trip too. We ended up going a few days later. She wasn't able to swim on the trip as planned, but did manage to fall into the hot tub while walking around the edge, so we had to get a replacement cast when we got home (with nasty stench after two days of being wet). Thankfully, those casts are wonderful for aiding in healing.

When you wrote "and off they went", I thought you were saying they went the dance first. Oh my! I'm sorry they missed most of the event, but glad she got it taken care of right away.

Speedy healing to Brooklyn!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this
And wow, what a trooper, waiting for the family to eat..then to the hospital, lol.
One of my kids broke his arm the same way. He was 18 months old, and our big dog at the time ran past him, and he pitched forward. Put his arms out to catch himself, and broke his arm. He was in a cast for 12 wks. I remember the hardest part was the lil' booger was still breastfeeding AND cosleeping with dh and I. So, when I say the "hardest" part, I meant that literally. Me getting hits to the head all night by that cast, lol.

Hugs to her!!!

Oh, and I've broken my right arm three times, left one twice. My mother didn't push the milk for strong bones, I guess

That is too bad about Brooklyn......poor thing.
The best part is she is a kid,and they bounce back quickly. It's just a shame this happened to her.

Oh. Katie. Poor Brooklyn. Houston and I are sending her Hav hugs and kisses.

I always seems like when you are going away for such a great vacation something happens. AUGH.

The only good thing is kids bounce back quickly. It is usually us Moms (and Dads) who are heartbroken for them. You never want to see your kids hurt and wish it was you instead of them. Hang in there Katie.

I am so sorry about Brooklynn's arm, the timing for your trip and DH and her missing most of the dance. Maybe you should have 2 margaritas.

I'm sorry to hear that Katie. Although, I'm sure it won't keep her down for long. They bounce right back. Wish us oldies could do that.

Peace, Love & Havanese

Kids have the worst timing! In the end she will probably think it's cool when she get to have everyone sign her cast. Hopefully she heals fast and it doesn't hurt too much.
