WA state boarding SOS
Waaaa....I have been looking into boarding options for our spring break vacation to Hawaii and it's not a pretty picture out there.....
I visited a place a friend recommended for "in home dog daycare". So, it's pretty much a gal that stays home with her granddaughter and takes in some dogs into her home. But the little girl (not quite 2) kept bopping Marley on the head and grabbed handfuls of his hair...He didn't like it and ears went back and tail between his legs. Grandma kept asking the girl to be gentle, but she kept coming after him, until I finally grabbed him and took off like I had been stung by a bee....I think she doesn't expect me to come back....
A couple of other places I visited were the typical metal kennel set-up, with lots of big dogs. Not really what I was looking for either.
Another places was very "earthy and holistic" Again, lots of big does, including some pittbulls and I just didn't get the warm and fuzzy feeling there, either.
The breeder mentioned originally that she does some boarding, but when I called her a few weeks back for our weekend trip to Portland, she never got back to me (we ended up taking him with us).
A friend offered to take him, but that set-up doesn't work for me (no fence, their dog still roams free, but doesn't wander away - Marley is a whole other story, he'd probably be lost in a couple of hours.....
I don't want to be too much of a pain, but Marley truly is my furry baby and I want him to have a good time while we're gone, not be miserable and come back with a changed personality.
I called someone at the Cascade Havanese Club and hope they will get back to me
If you have any suggestions on boarding places you can recommend, please, please, please let me know. I live in Snohomish, but I don't care if I have to drive a few hours to a place where he's in good hands.
There is a small doggie boarding place in Issaquah that I am going to check in (Villa Precious Paws) - does anyone have any experience with them?
Thank you for any help!!!
