We're ready for an adventure!
Beau's trainer is getting married this Saturday -- in Hilton Head, SC. She really wanted Beau to be there (they've got a mutual admiration thing going). And so, we're going to make it an adventure. I think the longest car trip we've taken is about four hours. This should be interesting.
Beau doesn't relax in the car. Instead, he likes to "wing walk." That is, he leans out the window to the end of his tether. [I know, I know -- not a good idea.] If he can't do that, he's very unhappy. Of course at 60+ mph, even he isn't real comfortable. We're taking a friend of mine along for the trip and I doubt she will agree to travel I-95 for 12 hours with the windows open.
I talked with his vet about giving him something to relax in the car. She said "25mg of Benadryl and he'll sleep." She also suggested I try it before we leave. After a weekend at my cousin's (about 1 1/2 hours away), I gave him 1/2 a Benadryl before we left to come home. I swear, 45 minutes into the trip home, he yawned. Once. Other than that, he wing walked all the way home. No signs of a nap on the horizon. Hmm . . . not looking good.
But, ready or not, here we come Hilton Head! Oh yes, I just had to have him try on his tux tonight. It's a little snug (he's sort of filled out in the year since I bought it for him). But, I thought I'd share the picture. He's so dapper!!
They're not my dogs -- I'm their person
