turning blue? or just fading?

...either way I think my Cashew Nut is simply gorgeous. But I was wondering if any of you more experienced with the color change could help me. Cash is lightening up, he definitely has more silver mixed in around his eyes and some in his ears. he is getting more white strands in through his whole coat-- but also his black fur has taken on this appearance of being dusted with a slight sometimes charcoal, sometimes eggplant color depending on the light. And his muzzle has lightend up a great deal, under the red, which I am sure is staining it is a pretty light silver.

Shelby has lightened up a lot recently. She is going silver. It will be interesting to see if she ever gets her true black color back.

Funny you should mention this. I've been thinking lately about how gray Milo has gotten. The hair on his neck has grayed out and his undercoat is all a kind of charcoal color, though the top hair on his whole body is still black. I'll try to get a photo of it at some point to see if it shows up.

It can vary a lot. We have silver in our line from Twinkle and no two who started out black are exactly alike. It can even change back after they are two or three. We thought maybe Posh would turn blue but since he is over his adolescent coat he is back to black.

Last summer, about the time Pepper turned a year, his coat began changing from black/white to a mix of reddish-brown, black & white. Then the reddish-brown color turned to a dark charcoal. It's very pretty, especially in sunlight. We still see new areas that are fading to the reddish color and expect them to turn blue/charcoal at some point.

I love this feature of the Havanese! It's exciting and fascinating, and they always turn out prettier than they began.

It is such a mystery! Tori, at almost 7 mos. old, has begun to get a few white hairs coming in on her back. She has just a touch of white on her belly and back toes. I'm excited to see what color "hocus-pocus" she has in store for us!

Hank is almost 4 years old and the back half of his body has turned a charcoal or grey color. The rest of him is black and he has a white goatee. However, he was bitten by a spider about 3 months ago and the vet shaved his back leg (thigh area) down to the skin. The hair is finally coming in and it's the darkest black you can imagine. Not only that, but his hair is curly and the spot coming back in seems to be straight hair. Will keep you all posted as to how this looks in the coming months.

It is a magical mystery tour with these guys isn't it? Jasper is getting a lot of his color back. When he was shaved around his ears on the back of his neck a long time ago it came back dark gray and course and frizzy-- but over time it is as soft as his other fur, the same thing is now happening on his saddle without shaving him there. And he is getting a lot of his fawn coloring back too.

I like calling it hocus pocus leslie.
