Question Beamer not going #2

Hey all..
Beamer has not gone poop since Sunday at noon, which was his second poop of the day, with the first time being at around 9am. We went all of yesterday and this morning with no poop.

His last poop was pretty loose, so I gave him boiled chicken breats and rice for his next 2 meals. Would this cause him to be constipated? Or could he have a blockage of some sort?

Hoping Beamer poops at lunch!

Ryan

To me a loose stool is not always bad, sometimes I feel it is the bodies way of expelling bacteria! When my guys get constipated, which happens every so often, if they eat lots of acorns, or sticks. I sprinkle a little metamucil in their food. And it works!!! Hope he goes for your soon!!

i feel your pain, my dog didn't poop this morning either and it's been 28 hours. i agree, sometimes loose poop isn't always bad. if its all the time then they need to be checked by the vet but just like humans, some days are good and some arent. the rice could have slowed things down a bit. i know when my dog gets a little stopped up a good run in the house gets things going or a good walk. can you take him for a long walk? that sometimes does the trick.

Thanks..

So, is missing a days poops and not going thismorning, is that cause for concern? I do not think he has ever gone this long without pooping before.. When your guys get constipated, how long are we talking??

Thanks!
Ryan

From my experience, the rice will clog them right up. I wouldn't worry too much as long as he is acting normal. Brady was very sick to his stomach a few months ago. The chicken and rice put a stop to it, but he didn't poop for a long while after that. I would call the vet if you very concerned.

Is Beamer acting like he is constipated? Trying to go with no results? Could he have gone and ate it? A little trick I learned with young puppies was to put a drop of mineral oil on there tongue, and they would go naturally in just a few hours. If you have any on hand it might work to put some on a spoon and see if he will lick it. If not, put a very small amount ½ to ¼ teaspoon on a treat. I missed Smarty going to Pee for 2 days, thought she must be going in the house, we still have found no sign of it.

My motto, “When in doubt go or call your vet.”

Hi Sandi,

No, Beamer has not gotten into his 'poop position' since the last time he went on Sunday at noon. He is acting completely normal, jut not pooping. I'm 99.9% sure he has not gone in the house or anywhere else as we were home with him all wknd and he was never out of sight. I guess the rice could have backed him up some.. Hopefully he will go at lunch time.. I will let you all know

Most likely the rice. Naturally, if it continues or he looks distressed, call the vet. Or, call the vet anyway, just to ease your mind.

Ryan,
What was the ratio of chicken to rice? I did find when Missy was on chicken and rice she did get constipated...so I cut back on rice in the mixture.
