Talking Teasing the cat unmercifully

Does anyone else's Havanese love to tease cats? MeMe's been living with my senior guy for five months now and still loves to chase and "tree" him on a table. I've scolded her, given her gentle "no" face giggles but nothing entertains her more than getting him riled up. He'll yell, bat at her face but that only serves to excite her more. Yet, the two can sleep together on my lap quite happily. Any suggestions on making her stop this game before she ends up with a nose scratch?

My two Havs torture my 3 cats. Two of my cats weigh more than the dogs. They chase the cats all over the house and corner them. You should see some of the fights. I have one cat that is such a sweetheart - Pepper. They will chase him and Shelby grabs him by his back legs and tries to pull him. The other two cats just stay away.

My female cat doesn't like to be near the dogs. She used to love my German Shep - would sit on him and clean his ears. But these two she totally avoids.

Sorry, but no good advice here. Brady's favorite game is "splat kitty". This is when he chasing them and then jumps on them so they flatten on the floor. Fortunately, I have 2 ragdoll cats so they are very flexible. My male cat, Jake, handles Brady much better than my female, Abbie. Jake will play with Brady sometimes. Abbie just cries for me to come and get Brady away from her. Brady loves to torment the kitties. My female is now 11 years old. When she was a kitten, I lived with a roomate who had a dog. They were best friends. I really thought she would like having a dog. Well, I was very wrong. Here are a few pics of life with Brady and the cats.

The first is a young Brady "playing with Jake". The second is Abbie's reaction to Brady when he pesters her.

Oh gosh, I wouldn't know what to do either! I only have the 2 Havs (no cats - DH is REALLY allergic) and they are SUCH rough players with each other. I can only imagine how much FUN it would be for them to tease a cat!! (Maybe the only way to teach your Hav would be a nose scratch??? Like I say about my boys: the only way they learn is by BLEEDING *rolleyes*)

Cute pictures Karen!

Carlito LOVES cats because he grew up with one at Kimberly's house. He pants and makes this weird squealing sound whenever he sees them. It is unreal. My father and stepmom have 2 cats that hide whenever we bring the boys over, and Carlito spends the whole time frantically trying to flush the cats out from underneath the couch. Nico was terrified of them the last time we visited because my stepmom's kitten flew out from under the couch and cuffed him on the nose. He didn't even have a scratch but he was whining like he had been mortally wounded

When we first got Vinny I used to scold Arnold (the ragdoll cat) and tell him to be nice to vinny. Then the tables turned and before I knew it Vinny was dragging Arnold across the floor by the scruff of his neck. I felt so sorry for Arnold. He could get on the top of his cat tree and Vinny could climb only to the second tier. Arnold was "treeded" for the day. Sad. My friend offered Arnold a great home and now he is HAPPY! Vinny and Lulu are a better match!

I have to admit that Brady does seem to have gotten a little better with the cats as he has grown up. That, and they have learned to run faster and get away. I think it does get better with time. But those kitties are still his favorite toys.

We used to have a Persian who lived only inside. He totally ruled our previous Havanese. Even our daughter's Westie was terrified of him. He always had that typical grouchy Persian look on his face, and took no prisoners. When I wasn't looking though, he and my Havanese used to take turns chasing each other around the house in play. One would chase the other, then they'd switch on a dime. The only time the cat wasn't dominant was when my Havanese and the Westie were together. You could just see the silent communication between the dogs....."let's get the cat!" They'd corner the cat behind a chair with one dog on each side. Neither dog would ever hurt him, they were just using psychological warfare. I'd tell them to "respect the cat!" and they'd back off. The dynamics were a hoot.

Abby absolutely loves to give our cats kisses Both of them are pretty great about getting kisses, but after they have had enough they will bop Abby on the head. She backs off a little, but still is all excited. I've wanted to get a video of it for a while, because it is so cute and funny.
