Vet Investigation - thought some of you might be interested

Will be on tonight at 11pm in the LA area and looks like it will be on their website tomorrow?

http://www.knbc.com/news/15377166/detail.html :

Vet Investigation

You love your pets.

You would do almost anything for them, especially when they get sick.

But are some vets taking advantage of your pet devotion?

Are some vets exposing pets to unnecessary procedures?

Unnecessary testing?

And, are they charging you hundreds of dollars in unnecessary expenses?

Ana Garcia's undercover exclusive.

The Vet Investigation.

Monday at 11 p.m. on the Channel 4 News.

Thanks, Anjanette. I'll be eager to see what they've uncovered. However, I can already guess... When Shadow was in the specialty hospital the fee was $36 an hour. She was there for 6 days (I'll let you do the math). She did get excellent care but, most of the time she was just sitting in a cage w/an IV in her.... I know it costs them a lot to keep a place like that running but, that rate seems excessive to me.

The biggest scam are for unessasry x-rays. X-rays around here cost big money.. I got suckered for $300 worth of x-rays at a 24/7 clinic when beamer was droped when he was just a wee puppy.. The vet told us he could not move beamers legs in a full range of motion and needed an xray to make sure nothing was broken. The vet even pointed out in the x-ray where he says his leg was 'fractured'. I took him to our regular vet the next morning and they said beamer was 100% fine. The 'fracture' lines in the x-ray were actually the growth plates.. lol ?!?!?!? We complained, but nothing was ever done... live and learn..

Leslie,
Wow, that must have been a whopping bill!! I hope Shadow is ok now.
I am eager too see the investigation too. Its always nice to be aware.
We are pretty lucky too. We have two vets that are pretty good and have gotten good care from.

I agree you have to be careful especially with the 24 hour Emergency vet 's ... They want to do a lot of tests and X Rays .. Caching Caching !!
AS I said before a lot of the Vets in Orange county and Riverside County are selling out to large corporations and the vets are just employees now . They do not have any interest in the business .. They just follow a protocol ..
I am going to try and watch this tonight ..
Thanks
