Travel Crate?

Hey guys...I'm so excited...Cricket's homecoming day is getting very near (next Thursday!)...and I'm trying to get everything in order before she comes home. I have a one of those small plastic travel crates, but have been thinking about getting one of those portable cloth ones. What do you guys recommend? I'll probably be taking her to work with me some days, so I want something that will be practical. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

It is totally up to your personal preference. The soft-sided crates are nice for transporting, easy to carry on your shoulder and still giving her a place to rest at work, but be careful if she is a chewer. They can chew through them pretty fast if they are inclined.

Hi Kim, I know you're getting so excited about bringing Cricket home. I agree with Kimberly about the chewing. I bought one of those cute pink puppy playpens for Mindy my "Morkie". Within 1 hour she had chewed a hole through the mesh part- no way could I leave her alone in that. So then I bought her a metal puppy playpen. She tried to "chew" through that and got her jaws stuck in it. I've never heard such wailing. So I couldn't leave her alone in that. So then I bought one of the strollers- a pink cute one, since I figured I needed to take her everywhere with me, BUT being the social butterfly that she is, she tried to keep chewing through that so that she could get to everyone she saw. As it turned out the stroller has come in very handy with my 15 year old Coton, Truffles. Since he can't walk too far I put him in the stroller when Mindy and I go out for walks. So, you may want to wait and see what kind of personality Cricket has before you buy your crate. Jocelyn

Kim,

I have taken both my dogs to work with me sometimes, since I got them and these are the travel bag/crates that worked for me.

I use a sherpa bag and a crate. The sherpa bag works well when they are little both dogs liked it and if you stop off on the way home from work at the grocery store you can take it in.

Here is some pictures...both dogs really liked the sherpa to travel in and as their little house when they were little and we also used a crate at work, Casper likes to sleep in it.

I use the smaller soft crates in the car. I often carry my dogs in one crate into the agility area. Dora is fine in the soft crate, Isabelle is fine in the car however, it takes her 15 mins tops to get out of one if she doesn't want to be in one!!! I think it just depends on the dog and the location, but she also gets into her little pink hard crate and knows how to flip it and knock it over- not good when she is suppose to be quiet!

Thanks guys! Lynn, I love that little bag. I ended up ordering this one because it has a removable tray, and since Cricket will be very young when I take her home, thought this might be best to clean accidents. I have a metal crate that I'll use at home, but since she'll be staying with a sitter while I'm at work, I thought this would be easier to transport from one place to another. Now I just have to pray that I can satisfy her need to chew with something OTHER than the crate! And when she's with me at work, I'd like to keep her in my lap
