Thumbs down Hurt my havs feelings I think :(

I have heard this breed is sensitive but.... ugh ...I feel so bad - - >

I was resting for a quick nap this afternoon in my bed, Henry was on the bed at the foot.
Well, I moved my legs to stretch them, he growled, and I snapped back, calling him a "grumpy old man". (exaggerating, he's 18 mo.)

He spent the rest of nap-time on the floor in the bedroom and then later moved to his crate.

I stepped out later and upon my return his sweet 13-yr. old dog-walker couldn't get him out of his crate, I think he gave her a growl too. Eventually he went for his walk with her and then back.

So we made up just after dinner because I realized what I had done.

Has anyone experienced such a "disagreement"? I had no idea, and I feel guilty to boot.

LOL! You probably just disrupted his beauty rest.

At 18 months old, he would have gotten more than a name calling from me. I would have growled back or removed him from his place (if it is on my bed).

Billy is quite dramatic also-- I swore he gave me dirty look one time when I called him "stinky butt"

i think i'm way more of a hard a**.
i would never let mugsy growl at me or even bark at me.

the first thing i started when i got him home was the no bark training.

It sounds as though perhaps I am not tough enough? Or maybe I startled him out of his beauty rest.
Thanks for the posts.

I agree with Kimberly. You might need to step up your roll-sounds like that isn't hurt feelings but more of him letting you sleep in his bed confusion!

Dora is extremely sensitive. Like for example, she went into the wrong end of the tunnel and i said no and clapped and she ran back to her crate! DH went outside when she would quit barking and spanked her and she wouldn't go near him the rest of the night. He kept trying to make it up to her.

But it is kind of what makes them extra special. Dora knows when I have had a bad day!

Jillee can just give all kinds of looks when she either wants her or when she is mad at me....I try not to give in but......I am a softy. Hubby is the stern one around here. It really balances us out....I think!!!

Kodi is Mr. Sensitive. He immediately picks up on tone of voice and his feelings get hurt. He will mope.

I don't think their feelings get hurt, but rather they know how to get us to do what they want They are super intelligent and if it take moping to get what they want, they will do it... lol

Oreo has only growled once in this house, and I believe it was shortly after his neuter and he was eating a greenie. That was the last time he ever did that as I growled right back and then gave him the 'silent' treatment for the rest of the day.

Just be clear about boundaries and they will get it. Havanese is just really smart and really use their heads, all the while looking all so cute doing it too! lol
