Duncan went to the vet!

He's a whopping 10 lbs. Vet thinks he's a little pudge for his build and suggested I feed them separately now (to prevent him from eating Bonnie's food). He got his last set of shots! And the vet also discovered the start of an ear infection, so I'm doing drops/oint for 5 days. He cleaned out his ears while we were there -- super yuck.

Oh My, Mr. Duncan Mac is going to be a BIG boy. What in the world are you feeding him that he likes so much?

That sounds like a productive vet visit. Duncan is growing up to be a big boy.

Boy, does he LOVE to eat! He eats about 1/3c Fromm kibble 2x day. I'm measuring it carefully now -- he's allowed 1/4-1/3c at a feeding.

Aaww, poor baby Duncan has to go on a diet My breeder told me that one of her dogs loves his food so much that he'd get heavy if allowed to eat all he wants. (Actually it's Tessa's daddy) She adds green beans to his food to give him fiber and bulk to fill him up for less calories. You might try that.

More to love....

oooo, cool idea. Thanks! Hey, doesn't Missy feed Cash extra fiber? I'll ask her how she does that...

I have read that the rule of thumb is their adult weight will be twice their weight at four months? Does anyone know if that's true of Havanes? If so, Duncan will be a big strong boy. Sorry about the ear infection

I don't think that's true about the weight thing for all Havs. If you would like to see the progression of weight for some of our Havs, visit this thread:

http://havaneseforum.com/showthread.php?t=1681&

It all depends on your Havs line and whether it's a slow growing or fast growing line. Some of them grow really fast and stop earlier and some will grow pretty slow but keep growing over a long period of time.

Oh and forgot to mention that Duncan does sound like he's pretty big, LOL. Feeding them separately should work pretty well, I should think.
