Getting up at night!

UGH!

I don't know what is going on, but ever since the Spring time change, Gucci's internal clock is all screwed up and she is waking me up at all hours of the night!

Last night, it was at 2:30. She wouldn't stop licking my hand, so I took her out and then back to bed. The night before that, 4am, the night before that 3am, last week..was mostly 4am. What the heck is going on?

Yesterday, we took her on two long walks (the second one was spent also playing with the neighbors' Brittney Spaniel) after her mile 1/2 walk, so really..she should've been *exhausted* after that. Oh, and we threw the ball out back several times. She really ran and played ALOT yesterday, and she STILL woke up in the middle of the night.

A few nights ago, she woke up panting and shaking. It reminded me of that thread Ryan had awhile back about Beamer. It scared me actually, but it stopped as quickly as it started. Weird.

I'm not sure if she's drinking too much water at night, but she needs to go back to sleeping to through the night. I'm exhausted and haven't had a good night's sleep since the time change. lol

Oh, and the funny thing is.....as soon as she finally gets me up (after licking me for an hour (from 4-5am when the alarm goes off) she comes downstairs with me and goes RIGHT back to bed! lol *sigh* its like....I can sleep, but you can't. hah.

That really stinks!!! One night is one thing, but when they do stuff like that several nights in a row gets on your nerves- real quick!!
Gucci has always been such a smart girl, and I wonder if the first day or two has now taught her that Mommy will get up if I kiss her in the night!! I dont know for sure, but I think that dogs are like kids, and they wake up several times in the night, only to fall asleep again.. If you have been getting up with her each time, she is "training you" I would keep exhausting her during the day, but make her lay down and go back to sleep without getting up tonight, see how it works. Godd luck!!

Kara, Does she stop panting when you take her out to the bathroom? It must be something going around because Houston was doing the same thing the last couple of weeks (not every night but at least 2-3 times a wk) As soon as I take him out he goes #2 and comes back to bed fine.

I think his time table is off because I have been working so much and the boys are in charge of him. That goofs up everything......

Kara, after the time change, Pablo woke me up by digging and scratching in his crate at exactly 12:10 a.m. 5 nights in a row! He drove me crazy! I took him out 2-3x times to potty, but he just laid down next to the pad The second night he even scratched for a whole hour until I put the crate back in our bedroom. Argh. Now he's back on schedule though...

Kara, I feel your pain. Cody had been waking me up at 4:30 every morning for months now, laying across my neck and licking me. I tried just having him lay with me but no doin' - and it wasn't that he needed to go potty, he wanted to eat! Once he'd eaten (and then gone potty) he'd go right back to bed. It had gotten to a point where I no longer set an alarm, I knew I'd be up. I tried splitting his dinner up so that he had some of it shortly before going to bed - didn't make any difference.

Just the last few nights, he's been quiet until 5:30 - 6:30, when he hears me moving.

LOL! I'm sorry to hear I'm not the only one dealing with this! I do wonder if it is the time change, OR maybe a heat cycle coming up? IDK. Which reminds me, I need to schedule her spay. It's time.

And yes, you are probably right in that she is training ME. I've got to do something, change feeding times, quit the nighttime water drinking, etc. because it is driving my CRAZY.

The thing is, sometimes she need to go potty, other times, she doesn't. I'll take her outside and she'll just lay on the deck and look at me....ugh.

I did have the thought that she could be getting a bladder infection or something, so I've been paying attention to how often she needs to pee, but yesterday, she went like every 4 hrs, as usual....so I don't think that's it.

Dora is a lazy hound but Isabelle if she is out too late and comes home and drinks water- her bladder is clock work- usually 4 am. She can't be trusted with liquids after 9pm Lucky for me- DH is the really light sleeper. He can feel Belle jump off the bed and go to the door. If he isn't here, she smartens up and barks at the door... she won't just go back to bed like Dora!
